Court rules Trump's tariffs are unconstitutional
A federal appellate court just ruled that President Donald Trump's imposition of tariffs is unconstitutional.
The ruling, according to the New York Post, was released on Friday.
As we will see, Trump is already vowing to take the case to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The ruling:
The court, as stated, found most of Trump's tariffs to be unconstitutional, but it is allowing them to remain in effect until Oct. 14, 2025.
The Daily Mail reports:
A federal appeals court ruled Friday that President Donald Trump had no legal right to impose sweeping tariffs but left in place for now his effort to build a protectionist wall around the American economy. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled Trump wasn't legally allowed to declare national emergencies and impose import taxes on almost every country on earth, largely upholding a May decision by a specialized federal trade court in New York.
It was a 7-4 decision.
The Post explains:
The Court of International Trade struck down the orders in May, finding IEEPA does not authorize blanket tariffs, and the Federal Circuit affirmed that ruling on Friday. The US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled on Friday that the IEEPA does not give presidents authority to levy duties.
This is a big deal, of course, because tariffs have been a pivotal part of Trump's economic strategy, which appears to be working.
Trump responds
Suffice it to say that Trump is not happy with the ruling. He blasted the appellate court's decision in a statement that he released on social media on Friday.
The president, in part, wrote:
ALL TARIFFS ARE STILL IN EFFECT! Today a Highly Partisan Appeals Court incorrectly said that our Tariffs should be removed, but they know the United States of America will win in the end. If these Tariffs ever went away, it would be a total disaster for the Country. It would make us financially weak, and we have to be strong. The U.S.A. will no longer tolerate enormous Trade Deficits and unfair Tariffs and Non Tariff Trade Barriers imposed by other Countries, friend or foe, that undermine our Manufacturers, Farmers, and everyone else. If allowed to stand, this Decision would literally destroy the United States of America.
Trump went on to write that he will be taking the case to the Supreme Court.
He continued:
At the start of this Labor Day weekend, we should all remember that TARIFFS are the best tool to help our Workers, and support Companies that produce great MADE IN AMERICA products. For many years, Tariffs were allowed to be used against us by our uncaring and unwise Politicians. Now, with the help of the United States Supreme Court, we will use them to the benefit of our Nation, and Make America Rich, Strong, and Powerful Again!
"Thank you for your attention to this matter," Trump concluded.
