A Rhode Island Democrat was arrested for allegedly keying a car that had a "Biden sucks" sticker.

Sen. Joshua Miller was shown damaging the vehicle in a surveillance video from last week in Cranston, according to local police.

The details

"The son of the car’s owner reported to officers that he heard a scratching noise when approaching the SUV and saw Miller holding keys," Breitbart News reported about the incident.

"However, the moment he confronted Miller and asked if he keyed the car, Miller reportedly denied doing so and turned to walk away from him," it added later in the report.

The police department's statement

"Mr. Miller never reported any threats to Colonel Winquist or any member of the Cranston Police Department," the statement read, according to Fox News.

"Nobody is above the law, including those who make and enforce the laws," Winquist added in the release. "The officers who handled this investigation did so with fairness, integrity, and without preferential treatment."

The confession

"Miller was allowed to leave the scene as officers reviewed surveillance footage from the parking lot that later matched up with the victims’ version of events," Cranston police said.

"When officers arrived at Miller’s home later that day, he admitted to damaging the car, according to police and the bodycam footage of the interaction," the New York Post added.

It is unclear what will happen next in the investigation. Miller was released following the event that occurred on Thursday night ahead of the public release of the video.

The police department claims that no one is above the law and plans to look further into the incident. “Nobody is above the law, including those who make and enforce the laws,” Winquist noted in the statement.

With the lawmaker's confession after being confronted by police and the public video of the event, the act of vandalism could be an issue for Miller's next election battle.
