Democrats who called on Trump's removal silent on using 25th Amendment on Biden

Remember when so many Democrats were super quick to call for using the 25th Amendment to have then-President Donald Trump removed from office?

And those calls were not based on anything close to the seriousness of what's happening now with 81-year-old President Joe Biden, yet for the most part, Democrats have remained silent as far as calling for the same for Biden.

According to Fox News, the outlet reached out to a list of some of the same Democrats who called on Trump to be removed via the 25th.

To no great surprise, none of them offered any comment on making the same call for Biden.

What happened?

In the wake of Biden's disastrous debate performance, which triggered calls from across the board for his resignation and withdrawal, some have suggested that his Cabinet convene with Congress to initiate the 25th Amendment process to remove him from office.

That would involve authorizing Vice President Kamala Harris to determine if the president is still fit for office, which is obviously questionable, at best.

Fox News reached out to "Reps. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.; Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash.; Jamie Raskin, D-Md.; and Maxine Waters, D-Calif., along with Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y." for comment. None of them responded.

But all of them have made comments in the past regarding Trump's removal.

Fox News noted:

In the lead-up to the 2020 presidential election, Raskin and Pelosi introduced legislation that would create a commission involving Congress in the process to remove the president if he became "incapacitated."

"This is not about President Trump," Pelosi claimed at a press conference at the time. "He will face the judgment of the voters, but he shows the need for us to create a process for future presidents."

Pelosi added at the time:

"Congress has a constitutional duty to lay out the process by which a president's incapacity and the president of any party is determined. This bill honors the duty by creating a standing commission of top former executive officials and medical experts selected in a bipartisan, bicameral way. A president's fitness for office must be determined by science and facts. This legislation applies to future presidents, but we are reminded by the necessity of action by the health of the current president."

Why not now?

Even though there were widespread calls for Biden's removal in the wake of the debate, most Democrats are scared of their own shadow, let alone being seen as betraying Biden.

Much of the usually Biden-friendly mainstream media also called on Biden to step aside.

The White House has insisted that Biden will stay in the race and finish it one way or another.

Only time will tell if that holds true.
