President Donald Trump has been targeted in recent years by multiple assassination attempts and alleged murder plots, including by foreign adversaries like the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In the coming weeks, the U.S. intelligence agencies, led by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, will provide Congress with an update on what is known of the foreign efforts to kill Trump, Just the News reported.

That will include a public committee hearing involving Gabbard and other intelligence community leaders to discuss the Annual Threat Assessment, as well as private meetings with lawmakers at the Capitol to review the classified details of various national security issues.

Intel community to share info about Iranian plot to kill Trump

The Washington Times reported that the Office of the Director of National Intelligence has expressed its commitment to keeping Congress and the American people as fully informed as possible about the foreign threats posed against the life and safety of President Trump.

That includes an alleged murder-for-hire plot orchestrated by the Iranian regime, which Iran predictably denied, that resulted in criminal charges brought by federal prosecutors against a foreign operative who was reportedly tasked with carrying out that plot against the president.

Asked if information about that and other alleged foreign plots against Trump would be shared with Congress in upcoming hearings and private meetings, DNI Gabbard's office confirmed that it intended to do so as transparently as possible.

"ODNI has and will continue to provide consistent updates and briefs on this priority topic, and others, to Congress," Gabbard's office said in a Friday statement.

"DNI Gabbard looks forward to the Annual Threat Assessment hearings next week, where she and her colleagues will discuss threats facing our country, including threats against U.S. persons," the office added.

Impending House Intel Committee hearing

While the full breadth of what the U.S. intelligence community knows about the foreign plots against President Trump will likely be disclosed to lawmakers in private meetings over the next few weeks, what can be shared with the American public will likely be revealed in next week's scheduled hearing to discuss the Annual Threat Assessment.

On March 26, DNI Gabbard, along with the directors of the CIA, FBI, Defense Intelligence Agency, and National Security Agency, will appear before the House Intelligence Committee that is chaired by Rep. Rick Crawford (R-AR).

"The United States and our allies are facing an unprecedented myriad of threats from highly sophisticated adversaries seeking to weaken our alliances, undermine our way of life, and deteriorate our readiness," Crawford said in a press release to announce the hearing.

"From the growing influence and investment by the [Chinese Communist Party] in the Western Hemisphere to Iran’s role as the largest state sponsor of terror and Russia’s aggression and irregular activities, today’s threat landscape requires persistent preparedness," the chairman added. "An inability to connect the dots to ensure a robust national security posture is unacceptable. I look forward to hearing how this new cadre of IC leadership will address these threats head-on."

China, Russia, Iran, and the threats they pose to the U.S.

The Times noted that Chairman Crawford, in a recent meeting with reporters, acknowledged that while he was keenly aware of the perennial threats from top foreign adversaries like China and Russia, he hoped to sharply focus the intelligence community on the Western Hemisphere and the subversive efforts of those and other rivals.

He is not overlooking the threats posed by the Iranian regime, however, as he revealed to those reporters, "If there was anything that kept me up at night, it would be Iran."
