A familiar face was brought back into the fold of the Trump administration this week, and it has the president and MAGA world cheering.

According to Breitbart, Dr. Ben Carson, who headed up the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) during President Trump's first term in the White House, has been tapped for the Department of Agriculture in an advisory role.

Dr. Carson was sworn in this week by Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins. He will officially be the Department of Agriculture’s national adviser for nutrition, health, and housing.

Rollins praised Dr. Carson, saying his insights will be "critical" for the Department of Agriculture as the administration moves its policies forward.

What's happening?

Dr. Carson released a statement this week thanking the secretary for the appointment.

“Today, too many Americans are suffering from the effects of poor nutrition. Through commonsense policymaking, we have an opportunity to give our most vulnerable families the tools they need to flourish," Dr. Carson said.

He added, "I am honored to work with Secretary Rollins on these important initiatives to help fulfill President Trump’s vision for a healthier, stronger America."

The former HUD secretary added, "This administration really wants to look at it from the inception, from how we conduct our planting, our harvesting, how it gets to your plate, what things are done to it that are good, what things in the past have been done that are bad, what’s good for your health."

"You are what you eat," Carson said.

His appointment was widely cheered by Trump's supporters across social media.

Social media reacts

Many users applauded the appointment of Carson, who was a key player in Trump's administration in 2016.

"That’s excellent news. The team just got stronger," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "It is so wonderful to have a government that is working to Make America Healthy Again instead of a government that is trying to figure out how to cover the cost of our unhealthiness."

Indeed, having Dr. Carson back on the team can mean nothing but good outcomes.
