Elon Musk seemingly disappears from Trump admin
Politico just released a report on how Elon Musk has recently "started to fade away."
Earlier on in the administration of President Donald Trump, Musk was a central figure, helping the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to identify waste, fraud, and abuse in the government.
For his efforts, Musk faced the wrath of the political left and their mainstream media.
Recently, however, Musk just sort of disappeared. He seemingly has transitioned from the foreground to the background, and it is no longer clear if he is doing any work with the Trump administration.
Where did Musk go?
Politico's report details how Musk has seemingly disappeared.
"On Truth Social, where Trump is known for sharing his unfiltered thoughts, the president used to mention Musk every few days but now has not posted about him in more than a month," the outlet writes.
It continues, "Trump’s fundraising operation has largely ceased sending emails that name-check the Tesla CEO. The billionaire’s name, once a staple of White House briefings, now hardly gets mentioned at all. Even members of Congress have essentially dropped him from their newsletters."
There is no question that Musk has faded into the background.
Rather, the question is why he faded into the background.
The official story:
If you have been following this news narrative, then you know that, to some degree, Politico's report is old news. Both Musk and Trump made it clear that Musk was not going to be with the administration forever, and Musk has essentially returned to his numerous business ventures.
Musk, towards the end of April, bid farewell to the administration, saying:
[It's] been an honor to work with your incredible Cabinet. I would just like to say thank you to everyone, It was an honor to work with you, so thank you for everything.
He went on to talk about some of the success that both the Trump administration, generally, and DOGE, specifically, have had, saying that it "portends very well for what happens for the rest of the administration. Trump, for his part, said that he wishes Musk could have stuck around, and he told Musk that he is free to stay for however long he wants to do so.
This is the official narrative. Leftists outlets like Politico, however, are trying to take it in a different direction. In its report, for example, it implies that Trump may have parted ways with Musk, at least publicly, because of some bad polling that Musk has received.
The thing is that neither Trump or Musk are the type of guys who would keep quiet if there was any problem. It appears that Musk did what he could and moved on, and, until we have any real evidence to the contrary, that is what happened.
