FBI takes Biden's vice presidential notebooks that could contain classified references

President Joe Biden's classified documents scandal seems to be the gift that keeps on giving.

According to the Washington Examiner, an unidentified source familiar with the ongoing investigation says the FBI took several notebooks belonging to Biden, which he used while he was vice president, serving under former President Barack Obama.

The notebooks could contain notes jotted down by the former vice president that might refer to classified information, the source said.

The Examiner cited an NBC News report: "This person also claimed that while none of the notebooks had classified markings on them, some of the notes could be considered classified due to their sensitive content."

The notes

The report revealed that some of the notes contained in the notebook were about Biden's personal life and family.

"Others detailed his current experiences and thoughts of his time as vice president, according to the unidentified person," the Examiner added.

The key to whether or not the notebook could cause any additional troubles for Biden is how he handled it while it was in his possession.

If he shared the notebook containing notes from his time as vice president with any staffers or Cabinet members, it would be considered an official record.

If he merely kept it to himself, the notebooks would be filed away under personal property.

Lawyers respond

Biden's personal lawyer, Bob Bauer, issued a statement regarding the notebook situation, though his answer was vague, at best.

"As noted in the statement released on January 14, consistent with our view of the requirements of our cooperation with DOJ in this matter, we will not comment on the accuracy of reports of this nature," Bauer said.

Bauer added that the FBI, during its Jan. 20 search of Biden's Wilmington, Delaware home, confiscated "personally handwritten notes, files, papers, binders, memorabilia, to-do lists, schedules, and reminders going back decades."

While Biden and his lawyers are clearly trying to play it down, there's no telling what the FBI and Justice Department might find in the trove of documents and items recovered from Biden's residences and offices linked to him. Let's just hope and pray that the Chinese never got a chance to get to any of it.
