A former aide to former New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie was charged with paying for a photo of a sex act with a six-year-old girl.

Kevin Tomafsky, 41, was reportedly arrested after an investigation from last year.

The background

"The investigation was opened once 'Snapchat reported the uploading of an incident of alleged child sexual to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which was then sent to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s office,'" Breitbart News reported.

"A photo shows what appears to be the suspect’s mugshot and another image of him with Christie," it added.

The findings

"A State Superior Court judge authorized a search warrant for the home in Sewell Township where Tomafsky lives with his mother, executed December 14," the Daily Mail reported.

"The investigation turned up just under 1,000 items of what was described as child sex abuse materials," it added.

The charges

"Tomafsky was reportedly charged with engaging in sexual conduct with a child, conspiracy to endanger the welfare of a child, permitting a child to engage in pornography and the possession of child pornography," the New York Post reported.

"A second individual was charged with six criminal accounts, including knowingly committing the act of sexual penetration on the 6-year-old and photographing a child engaging in a sex act," it continued.

The second suspect has not been officially named but is presumed to be the child's father.

Tomafsky worked for the Christie administration between 2010 and 2012. He also worked at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, as well as previously working for Assemblyman Sam Fiocchi (R) and in other government jobs prior to his arrest.

The disturbing charges against Tomafsky have led to him now being held in the Salem County Correctional Facility in Mannington. His report comes as Christie continues his bid as a GOP presidential candidate focused largely on attacking former President Donald Trump. The former president continues to lead nationwide while Christie's campaign remains in single digits in polls.
