President Joe Biden has come under increasing scrutiny after it was revealed that he possessed multiple stashes of classified documents dating back to when he served as a senator as well as vice president in the Obama White House.
During a recent interview, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo recently argued that some documents may have been exposed to China's government.
According to Newsmax, Pompeo raised the prospect this past Sunday while speaking with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo. He pointed to the fact that papers were found at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement.
"We need to find out if the Chinese Communist Party actually may have had access at the University of Pennsylvania, where President Biden clearly had documents," Pompeo noted, adding, "That would have been a pretty open space."
"And, Maria, you and I have talked about this for years: The Chinese Communist Party's inside every major American university today with research dollars and with their students," he continued.
"They're at the University of Pennsylvania, too. And we now know that this Chinese money, these Chinese officials met classified documents in that space," Pompeo asserted.
"They were in the same place. We need to know if there's any risk they might have gotten ahold of them," the former secretary of state went on to insist.
A Washington Examiner report published on Sunday detailed how the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement has received over $50 million in Chinese donations over the past several years.
What's more, the newspaper stated that the outfit "hosted pro-China events in which there was little security and attendees reportedly were able to wander in and out of any number of rooms."
The Chinese Communist Party is not the only entity which may have had access to the material in question, as Texas Sen. Ted Cruz speculated last week that Hunter Biden may have read them as well.
During his own interview with Bartiromo, Cruz brought up a 2014 email that Biden sent to business partner Devin Archer in which he provided an uncharacteristically detailed description of Ukraine's political scene and its relationship with Russia.
"Hunter Biden didn't write that," Cruz said. "Hunter Biden is not an expert on Ukraine. He's not an expert on Eastern Europe. He's not an expert on Russia, but that email did help get him on the board of Burisma."
"It did help get him paid $83,000 a month because it showed a level of expertise not coming from him, but he was getting it from somewhere," the senator alleged.
"That's clearly from some sort of briefing," Cruz declared. "We don't know whether it was a classified briefing or not, but that is the sort of analysis that is often within a classified briefing."
