"The View" recently lost to a Fox News host in television ratings. 

The reason why this is such a big deal, according to the Daily Caller, is that it is actually the first time ever that this has happened.

The Fox News host who accomplished this feat is Harris Faulkner. She, of course, is known for her program, The Faulkner Focus.

The numbers:

The outlet Adweek has released a report revealing the numbers. It has to be admitted that it was a narrow victory for Faulkner.

The Daily Caller reports:

The Faulkner Focus, which airs during the 11 a.m. time slot, ended the month with an average total of 2.552 million viewers, while The View garnered an average of 2.508 million. Fox News remained the most-watched cable news network by garnering 2.7 million total viewers and averaging 1.9 million viewers across the day . . .

So, it was about a 45,000 viewer win for Faulkner, which is not the biggest discrepancy of all time - particularly in television ratings - but it is a win nonetheless.

Fox, overall, according to Adweek, had a really good January.

Fox News is riding the Donald Trump wave as its coverage of the presidential transition and the first few weeks of his second term powered the network to its highest-rated January ever.

Faulkner declares victory

Suffice it to say that Faulkner is quite happy about her victory over The View. She took to social media, following the news, to celebrate the win with her supporters.

She wrote:

Perhaps, though, there is another reason why you find this article surprising - other, that is, than the fact that Faulkner beat The View. Perhaps, for example, you are more surprised by the fact that The View actually does get viewership.

It is, indeed, the case though that quite a few people watch The View - over 2.5 million according to the report.

This probably says something about the current state of our country, but we'll leave that for you to decide.
