California Gov. Gavin Newsom loves to make fun of President Donald Trump and oppose him at every turn, but many believe the Democratic governor attempted to take a page out of Trump's playbook only to have it backfire in humiliation.

According to Breitbart, Newsom recently published a post on social media in all caps -- Trump's signature style. Many believe Newsom was copying Trump by writing the message how he did, only to have it fall flat.

Newsom was definitely mocking Trump with the capitalized post, as he also slid in a post that referenced a garbled word Trump famously mistakenly tweeted during his first term in the White House.

Not surprisingly, nobody to speak of found Newsom's attempt at anti-Trump humor funny. Like, at all.

What happened?

Gov. Newsom's posts were unusual and attempted to mock Trump's classic tone and style in writing.

In another post, Newsom simply wrote, "Covfefe." A joke that hasn't been funny in nearly a decade.

The governor tried a few more times in the all-caps style, writing in one, "HUGE “HISTORIC” EVENT — THURSDAY 11:30AM PACIFIC IN LOS ANGELES!!! A “BEAUTIFUL RALLY” / PRESS CONFERENCE WITH GAVIN CHRISTOPHER NEWSOM & STRONG DEMS. DEMOCRATS WILL DESTROY GREG ABBOTT’S “TOTALLY RIGGED MAPS.” TREMENDOUS WORK IS BEING DONE. DONALD TRUMP (THE CRIMINAL PRESIDENT) GET READY FOR THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PAYBACK YOU’VE EVER SEEN!!!"

To say the least, Newsom was blasted across social media for his failed attempt at mocking the president.

Users across social media had plenty to say about Newsom's weird posts.

"This won’t end well for Dems or Cali. Newsome has awaken every Red State, and there’s a majority of them. Time to balance the ratios. Midterms will be awesome!!!!" one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "Trying to be DJT doesn't work for you, Governor. You're on your way out."

It'll be interesting to see what Newsom does next. Or not.
