Israeli hostages held for more than 500 days by Hamas were burned, chained and hung by their feet as well as starved almost to death, according to reports from those released under a cease-fire deal that have President Donald Trump saying they look like "holocaust survivors."

Eli Sharabi, Or Levy and Ohad Ben Ami are among 250 hostages taken on October 7 when nearly 1,000 Hamas fighters stormed across Israel's border in a terror campaign that saw 1,200 Israeli deaths.

The men said they went days without food and were sometimes given only a rotten pita to share between them.

Israel's health ministry confirmed that they had lost significant body weight and were severely malnourished.

The abuse

In addition, they were only allowed to relieve themselves twice a day at specific times, but that's not the worst of what they suffered.

During interrogation sessions by Hamas fighters, they were burned with an unidentified white-hot object.

Levy told his family, "I was bound in a dark tunnel, without air, without light. "I couldn’t stand or walk, and only toward the time of the release did the terrorists remove the chains and I learned to walk again."

When the terrorists knew the time of release was near, they tried to give the hostages more food so it wouldn't look like they were mistreated as badly.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog said it was "what a crime against humanity looks like."

He said: "The whole world must look directly at Ohad, Or, and Eli— returning after 491 days of hell, starved, emaciated and pained — being exploited in a cynical and cruel spectacle by vile murderers."

Trump furious

The released hostages said that one who remains in captivity--Eliya Cohen--has had a bullet wound on his leg since the October 7 attack that has never received proper treatment. He has also been chained up and not given much food or daylight.

Alon Ohel, another hostage, has shrapnel in his shoulder, arm, and eye that has not been treated. His eye is now partially blind.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said he cannot let the prisoners' treatment and condition in which they were released "pass without response."

Trump is also reportedly furious and tiring of the deal, which he helped broker. In response to Hamas delaying the agreed upon release of hostages, Trump said they all must be released by Saturday or "all hell is going to break loose."
