Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) and Vice President Kamala Harris's campaign really stepped in it last week regarding a video of Walz claiming he carried weapons into "war."

Walz's claims regarding his military service history have caused increasing pain for the campaign as his records seem to contradict many of his claims.

According to Breitbart, the Harris-Walz campaign issued a statement on the most recent controversy regarding his claims of going to war, saying he simply "misspoke."

There have been multiple instances of Walz claiming he served in war.

What's going on?

Last Tuesday, the Harris campaign released a video regarding a gun control issue that Walz had recorded previously. In it, he claimed that he went to "war" and carried military-style "assault" rifles.

"I spent 25 years in the Army and I hunt. I’ve been voting for common sense legislation that protects the Second Amendment, but we can do background checks. We can research the impacts of gun violence. We can make sure those weapons of war, that I carried in war, are only carried in war," Walz says in the video.

An anonymous Harris campaign spokesperson attempted some level of damage control in a statement to NBC.

"In making the case for why weapons of war should never be on our streets or in our classrooms, the Governor misspoke. He did handle weapons of war and believes strongly that only military members trained to carry those deadly weapons should have access to them, unlike Donald Trump and JD Vance who prioritize the gun lobby over our children," the statement said.

It added, "Governor Walz would never insult or undermine any American’s service to this country — in fact, he thanks Senator Vance for putting his life on the line for our country. It’s the American way."

Harris struggles

In her first press gaggle since the long list of stolen valor accusations, Harris reportedly struggled to address the embarrassing controversy.

"I praise anyone who has presented themselves to serve our country, and I think that we all should," she said.

Another report added, "There are also accusations by veterans who served with Walz that he — as the top enlisted soldier in his unit — abandoned them right as they were preparing to deploy to Iraq at the peak of the war."

There's no telling what will come out next.
