Heritage Foundation plans to fight to prevent states from removing Biden from ballots
Now that President Joe Biden is officially out of the 2024 presidential race, Republicans plan to make things extremely difficult for the Democratic Party as it scrambles in the wake of the announcement.
According to the Daily Mail, in anticipation of Biden ultimately bowing out of the race, conservative group The Heritage Foundation has, for months, planned out a legal fight with a goal to make it difficult or impossible for states to remove Biden from the ballot.
The influential conservative group is dialing in on three swing states where it believes it could make it nearly impossible to take Biden off of the ballot at this point in time.
The states include Wisconsin, Georgia and Nevada -- all three being states that a Democratic nominee would have to win to have a path to victory in Novemver.
What's going on?
The Heritage Foundation's Mike Howell released a quick statement explaining why the legal fight was launched to keep Biden on the ballot in November.
"The process for substitution and withdrawal is very complicated," Howell said. "We will remain vigilant that appropriate election integrity procedures are followed."

The Daily Mail summarized the laws in the three states mentioned above:
Wisconsin does not allow withdrawal from the ballot for any reason besides death.
In Nevada, no changes can be made to the ballot after 5 p.m. on the fourth Friday in June of an election year or 'a nominee dies or is adjudicated insane or mentally incompetent.'
If Biden were to withdraw less than 60 days before the election Georgia his name will remain on the ballot but no votes will be counted.
There are similar laws in some other states, and many states do not have specific laws on the books regarding presidential ballot changes at the last minute.
"Policymakers and the public should be prepared for all externalities that arise from President Biden not running for President in 2024. The process for substitution and withdrawal presents many election integrity issues," the statement continued.
Anti-Democratic
Many Republicans, including Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), pointed out that the Democratic Party has essentially erased the votes of tens of millions of voters by forcing Biden out of the race.,
"The Democrat Party forced the Democrat nominee off the ballot, just over 100 days before the election. Having invalidated the votes of more than 14 million Americans who selected Joe Biden to be the Democrat nominee for president, the self-proclaimed ‘party of democracy’ has proven exactly the opposite," Johnson wrote on his X account.
While Vice President Kamala Harris has received an outpouring of endorsements, including one from Biden, she'll have to be formally nominated at the Democratic convention.
Many believe others will jump into the mix by the start of the convention, setting up the possibility of a historic showdown.
