It is finally happening: failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is being suggested as a potential replacement for President Joe Biden as the Democratic Party's presidential nominee, Fox News reports. 

We all know that this is the moment that Clinton has been waiting for. She has made this clear in the numerous interviews that she has given since her devastating loss to former President Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election.

The big question, of course, is whether Clinton really is a viable candidate.

Based on the responses that we have seen to the suggestion that Clinton ought to replace Biden, the answer would appear to be no, she is not.

Here's how this all started:

On Saturday, a writer for The Hill named Pablo O'Hana published an article, titled, Ready for Round 2: Why we need Hillary more than ever. 

As the article's title would suggest, the main thrust of the article was to argue that Democrats ought to pick Clinton to replace Biden on the party's presidential ticket.

"The strongest argument against replacing President Joe Biden as the 2024 Democratic nominee is the notion that no suitable successor exists. But there is, and not just a good one but one of the most qualified people ever to run for the office: Hillary Rodham Clinton," O'Hana writes.

O'Hana went on to argue that this ought to happen because "Clinton is younger than both Biden and Trump," because "Clinton is a ready-made replacement [who] possesses an unparalleled resume and an unmatched depth of experience," and more.

As you can probably tell, the piece read as though it was written by a Clinton lackey.

The response

This article led to a huge response on social media. Many suggested that substituting in Clinton for Biden would be a huge win for Trump, because, in the opinion of many, Clinton is one of the least likable politicians that exists.

Conservative commentator Alex Sheppard, for example, wrote, "If so, this is great news for Trump. She is the least likable politician of all time."

Whether Clinton will actually take Biden's place remains to be seen.

Trump advisor Jason Miller stated his opinion that it is no coincidence that this article was published. "SHE’S RUNNING!!! These opinion pieces don’t happen organically - Crooked is on the move!!!" he wrote.

Clinton, for her part, has, at the time of this writing, yet to comment on all of this. There is little doubt that she is probably sitting back and hoping that there might be enough support for her to take another shot at the presidency.
