Actor Hugh Jackman and Deborra-lee Furness have announced plans to divorce after 27 years of marriage.

The former couple shared the news in a statement with People to explain the situation.

The statement

"We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth," the statement read.

"Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives," it added.

The change

"The Australian couple share two children together: Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18," the Daily Mail reported.

Deborra-lee was recently spotted by the Daily Mail in New York without her wedding ring following the announcement this week.

Their past

"The exes met in 1995 on the set of the Australian TV show 'Correlli' and married in 1996 at a church outside Melbourne, Australia — Furness’ native country," the New York Post reported.

"In 2021, Jackman gushed to Hoda Kotb on 'Today' over how his marriage was the easy kind of love," it added.

The couple celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2021, with Jackman offering glowing words over his wife to commemorate the milestone.

“In our 25 years – our love has only grown deeper. The fun, excitement and adventure more exhilarating; the learning even greater. I’m forever grateful to share our love, our life – and, our family together. We’ve only just begun. Deb, I love you with all my heart!” he wrote on Instagram.
