Ilhan Omar slammed for saying Americans 'should be more fearful of white men'

Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar is facing calls for her removal after saying that Americans should be afraid of white men.

According to The Blaze, Omar told Al Jazeera, "I would say our country should be more fearful of white men across our country because they are actually causing most of the deaths within this country."

"What would happen if a white politician said this about blacks?"

Omar's claim that white men are "causing most of the deaths within this country" is contradicted by the FBI's Uniform Crime, which shows that the biggest share of homicides are committed by African Americans.

The Minnesota lawmaker's remarks led to an online backlash, with some Twitter user wondering, "What would happen if a white politician said this about blacks?"

Democratic-turned-Republican Georgia state Rep. Vernon Jones also expressed outrage and called on Omar to be kicked out of the House of Representatives.

"She should be removed from Congress"

Right-wing media consultant Hannah Cox joined in slamming Omar's statement, saying, "We shouldn't be encouraging more bias against any demographic of people, actually."

Conservative journalist and commentator Breanna Morello spoke up as well, pointing to the fact that Omar's supposed fear of white men did not prevent her from leaving her Somali husband to marry one.

Critics' point to Omar's white husband

"Ilhan Omar fears white American men so much that she begged us to let her into our country. She views white men as a threat BUT NOT the Somalian men who chased her out of her own country," Morello wrote, adding, "White men are so dangerous that she found a MARRIED white man & had him leave his wife."

Activist Greg Price made a similar point, tweeting, "Ilhan Omar: 'Our country should be fearful of white men.' Also Ilhan Omar: Is married to one."
