Influencers weigh in: Republicans and Democrats duke it out on social media
The battle for the presidency is no doubt going to be a close one, and the voting demographic being paid immense attention to this round is trending younger.
Both the Republican and Democratic candidates seem deeply concerned about the Gen Z vote, and both are employing the help of their children (and, for one candidate, stepchildren) to try to attract that elusive demographic.
To that end, President Donald Trump has received the support of his children, and the influencers that they have become friends with due to their time in the spotlight, as The Washington Examiner reported.
Specifically Barron Trump, former president's son and his teen influencer friend Bo Loudon may be the most potent weapon in his arsenal as the election season heats up.
Friends in Online Spaces
Barron, the son of Donald and Melania Trump, is eligible to vote for his father in the November election at the age of 18, while his close friend, Loudon is not.
Both candidates have the potential to engage millions of young and undecided voters through a strategic and ambitious social media campaign.
This campaign would spread information about the presidential election, promote the candidate, and engage in discussions about the issues on various social media platforms to appeal to Gen Z voters.
The 78-year-old former president has been receiving private briefings from the tech-savvy teens regarding the emerging landscape of influencers, TikTok, YouTube, and other social media stars who have millions of followers and influence voters.
Sources have confirmed that Barron Trump and Loudon have emerged as the primary social media outreach team for the Trump 2024 campaign, as reported by the Daily Mail.
The Influence
For instance, Barron Trump and Loudon were responsible for organizing the former president's interview with Kick influencer Adin Ross.
Donald Trump boasted on Truth Social that there had been 100 million total listeners to the 90-minute interview, tho those figures have not yet been independently substantiated.
The GOP nominee was also able to establish a connection with his favored content creators, including Logan Paul, who has 26 million followers on Instagram and 23.6 million on YouTube, under the influence of his friends.
Paul requested that Donald Trump provide his opinion on the "big rap beef" between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, as well as on aliens and artificial intelligence, during his interview with him.
More of Barron's Impact
Barron Trump and Loudon also convinced the former president to contact billionaire business mogul Patrick Bet-David, the presenter of the PBD Podcast, which has a subscriber base of 2 million.
After Barron Trump's 18th birthday in March, his mother approved him to assist his father's campaign.
His initial step was to join forces with Loudon to throw a "power summit" dinner that included Bet-David, his favorite mixed martial arts fighter Colby Covington, and Justin Waller, who was the business partner of controversial online celebrity Andrew Tate, a British-American kickboxer-turned-reality star.
