While many on the left are preparing to battle against President Donald Trump's agenda, Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman apparently isn't among them.

In a move which is sure to leave some in his party furious, Fetterman recently confessed that he has a "cordial" relationship with the president.

Fetterman says dinner with Trump was "really just a conversation"

According to Fox News, Fetterman made that admission during a daytime appearance on ABC's "The View" earlier this week.

His remarks came when the hosts asked him about having dinner with Trump at the president's Mar-a-Lago estate several weeks ago.

"I think overall it was a positive experience. I mean, he was — he was kind. He was cordial," the Democratic lawmaker explained.

"It wasn’t in a — in any kind of theater, it wasn't trying to get your picture taken to put something out on social media. It was really just a conversation," Fetterman stressed.

Senator and Trump share common ground on border security

What's more, Fetterman insisted that he will not be leading any kind of crusade against the new administration, stating, "I’m not that guy. I’m not going to be that Democrat."

"For me, you know, there’s things I’m going to agree with, I’m going to disagree with, but I’m in the business of finding wins for Pennsylvania and for the nation, and engaging the president — I see that as doing my job," he noted.

This is not the first time Fetterman has adopted a conciliatory tone regarding Trump, as he also did so in an interview last week with ABC News.

Specifically, the senator indicated that he and Trump share some common ground when it comes to securing America's southern border.

Fetterman says foreign criminals "need to go"

"And I believe as someone that's very, very pro-immigration, as I have been consistently, that we can be very pro-immigration and we should need a secure border," Fetterman declared.

"And if those people that have a criminal record or people that are actively engaging in criminal behavior, I don't know why it's controversial that those people should, should, they need to go," he insisted.

Fetterman also voiced agreement with Trump's decision to declare a state of emergency regarding the border shortly after taking office.

"Well, I think if 300,000 people were showing up on the border, as they were during a month, not that long ago, I think it's important that we create a secure border. And that's really pretty much where we are," the lawmaker said.
