JonBenét Ramsey series announces additions to cast
The killing of JonBenét Ramsey has captivated America for literally decades, and it doesn't appear as though there's any end in sight.
It makes sense, JonBenét Ramsey was a young beauty queen in a seemingly perfect family. How could a family who seemingly had it all suddenly lose everything without ever knowing how it happened?
That's exactly what the upcoming Paramount+ series is set to explore, and anyone eagerly awaiting the show will be pleased to learn that progress is moving along swimmingly. Paramount+ has announced a slew of new stars appearing in the series.
For anyone interested in learning more about the young beauty queen's tragic story, here are a few of the new names who will be participating in the series:
Garrett Hedlund
Garrett Hedlund was born in 1984 and has been appearing in major American films since the year 2004. In the show about JonBenét Ramsey, Hedlund "will play Detective Steve Thomas, described as 'a seasoned detective who is brought onto the Jonbenét case.'"
Hedlund has been a major player in cinema ever since his breakout role as Sam Flynn, the main protagonist in the film Tron: Legacy. In the movie, he acted alongside Jeff Bridges and Olivia Wilde.
Outside of film, Hedlund is a skilled musician. He plays guitar and violin.
Alison Pill
Pill is most well-known for her role in Star Trek: Picard. She "will play Detective Linda Arndt, said to be 'a Boulder, Colorado police detective. Arndt and partner Detective Trujillo are the first detectives on the scene after Jonbenét Ramsey is reported missing/kidnapped.'"
Alison Pill was born in 1985 and began her acting career at the young age of 12. Her breakthrough role came in 2006's The Book of Daniel.
Emily Mitchell
Perhaps the most important character to be cast in the entire series, Mitchell will portray JonBenét Ramsey herself. It remains to be seen exactly how much time JonBenét Ramsey will appear on screen in the show, as the main thing people are interested in is the unsolved nature of the crime.
Mitchell will appear in the series alongside series leads Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen as well as cast members Shea Whigham and Will Patton.
Owen Teague
Teague is an American actor who's been active since 2012, although his first lead film role didn't come until 2024's Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
According to GeekTryant.com, "the series will follow "the Ramsey family, before and after the tragedy as they go through the painful loss of a child while facing intense public scrutiny caused by a media frenzy that caused this case to captivate an entire nation."
Paramount+ has said, "At the heart of the series, it is the story of Patsy (Melissa McCarthy) and John Ramsey (Clive Owen) – exploring the unbreakable partnership of these two complex people – as husband and wife, as mother and father – who had committed themselves and their children to building the narrative of a perfect, privileged life only to have it destroyed one Christmas night in 1996."
