Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Sec. Kristi Noem isn't playing around -- that's one of the reasons President Donald Trump hired her for the position.

According to Breitbart, it was announced this week that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials detained MS-13 member Kilmar Abrego Garcia early Monday morning and they plan to deport him to Uganda.

The legal battle to detain and deport Garcia, whom the leftist media called "Maryland man" instead of identifying him as a criminal illegal alien, has carried on for years.

President Trump and his top officials have vowed to ultimately deport Garcia, and short of an unexpected surprise, it appears that it's on track to happen.

What's going on?

Several statements were released by President Trump's top officials in the wake of the news of Garcia's detainment Monday morning. The Department of Homeland Security issued the first statement.

"U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem today announced U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) arrest of a known MS-13 gang member, human trafficker, wife beater, and child predator, Kilmar Abrego Garcia," the statement read.

It continued, "On August 25, ICE arrested Garcia—a criminal illegal alien from El Salvador—in Maryland. He is being processed for removal to Uganda."

In the statement, DHS pointed to several notable items in his criminal background.

Sec. Noem also released a statement on X, writing, "Today, ICE law enforcement arrested Kilmar Abrego Garcia and are processing him for deportation."

She added, "President Trump is not going to allow this illegal alien, who is an MS-13 gang member, human trafficker, serial domestic abuser, and child predator to terrorize American citizens any longer."

Social media reacts

Users across social media reacted to the news of Garcia's arrest, with many supporting the move to deport him to Uganda.

"Have a nice time in Uganda!!!!" one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "Promoting criminals is a really bad look for the left. All they want is the illegal vote."
