Lara Trump praises brother-in-law Barron as being just like his father, says he deserves 'serious credit' for Trump's re-election

There has been widespread speculation that former and now future first son Barron Trump was secretly a top adviser to his father, President-elect Donald Trump, during the latter's successful re-election campaign.

Those rumors were seemingly just confirmed by Trump's daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, who said that Barron is just like his dad and deserves "serious credit" for contributing to Trump's victory, according to The List.

The recent remarks from Lara also seem to support what former and future first lady Melania Trump once said previously of her beloved only son and why she calls him "Little Donald" because of his similarities with his father.

"He's his father's son"

Lara Trump, the co-chair of the Republican National Committee who is married to the former president's middle son Eric, appeared on the "PDB Podcast" this week with host Patrick Bet-David to discuss last week's election, among other things that included her younger but much taller brother-in-law.

Bet-David referenced the speculation among some that "Barron is the reason that Trump got elected" because of his encouragement for his father to go on various popular podcasts, and Lara seemed to agree with that assessment as she went on to praise him as "so cool" and a "sleeper" who "kind of stayed out of the spotlight -- probably intentionally" but still had a substantial impact on the election.

"He's really smart, he's very cool, very entertaining -- he's his father's son. Like, there's no doubt about it," Lara continued of Barron. "And he's gonna do really incredible things, I think."

She recalled instances where she was traveling with her father-in-law to campaign events when "Barron will call and he'll say, 'Dad, I have an idea on how you can get more votes,'" and added, "He's always throwing ideas out there, so yeah, we have to give Barron some serious credit."

Melania calls her son Barron "Little Donald"

What Lara Trump had to say about Barron taking after his father seems to align with what Barron's mother said about him previously in an interview about parenting, according to Hello! magazine.

"He is a very strong-minded, very special, smart boy. He is independent and opinionated and knows exactly what he wants," Melania Trump said. "Sometimes, I call him Little Donald. He is a mixture of us in looks, but his personality is why I call him Little Donald."

As for the true extent of the similarities between father and son or the latter's contributions to the former's re-election campaign, one thing that is known for sure is that the young man, who just turned 18 earlier this year, cast his first-ever vote on Election Day "for his dad!" according to an Instagram post from his "#proud" mother.

Will Barron stay in New York at NYU or transfer to Georgetown to live in the White House again?

With the election now over and President-elect Trump headed back to the White House in January, there are questions being raised by some about whether Barron will join his father in Washington D.C. again, as he did during the first Trump term, or remain in New York City as a student enrolled at New York University's business school.

One report suggested that Barron could potentially decide to transfer from NYU to Georgetown University, which would allow him to move from Trump Tower in downtown Manhattan to the White House with his father.

Wherever Barron goes, though, his mother has made clear that she will follow, as she has stressed that caring for and protecting him is her top priority above everything else.
