Liz Cheney cost VP Harris key support in Michigan and Pennsylvania: Report
The liberal media and Democrats in general are still trying to figure out how Vice President Kamala Harris was not only beaten by President-elect Donald Trump, but also how he beat her so badly.
Many on that side have spent the past few weeks pointing fingers and attempting to compile all of the reasons why they believed the coronated Democratic presidential candidate was devastated at the ballot box earlier this month.
According to Breitbart, new election data shows that part of that blame can be placed on former Wyoming Republican lawmaker Liz Cheney, as it showed she hurt Harris' chances of winning the critical "Rust Belt" states.
The data revealed that Cheney, a staunch anti-Trump establishment Republican who campaigned with Harris, might have cost her the states of Michigan and Pennsylvania.
What's going on?
The data was published by Data for Progress, and it told quite the story regarding how voters in those two states felt about Harris before and after Cheney campaigned with her.
Breitbart noted:
With Michigan swing voters, 3-in-10 said Cheney’s endorsement made them less enthusiastic about Harris, while only 23 percent said they were more enthusiastic
It added:
Similarly, in Pennsylvania, 28 percent of swing voters said they were less enthusiastic about Harris after she campaigned with Cheney, while only 21 percent said the endorsement from the neoconservative made them more enthusiastic for Harris.
The stunning report determined that Harris' ploy to rack up earned media by campaigning with Cheney ultimately cost her crucial votes in the states.
"A new analysis … suggests Kamala Harris’ decision to focus on generating earned media by campaigning with former Republican Representative Liz Cheney in the final days of the race sacrificed enthusiasm among key voters," the Data For Progress report noted.
It added, "Focusing wholly instead on populist economic issues would have benefited her with key voters in both states."
Losing key support
The data specifically noted that in Michigan, Harris lost key support from "white voters, voters 45 years or older, and male voters," after Cheney endorsed her.
Similar data unfolded in Pennsylvania, which was the state that ultimately won Trump the election.
Many believe Harris lost the race also based on her reliance on celebrity support, which is completely disconnected from working-class America.
It wouldn't be surprising if the left spends the next several months, or years, pointing fingers.
