Fox News reported on Friday Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has charged former Marine Daniel Perry with manslaughter over the death of Brad Neely.

Perry was seen restraining Neely on a New York City subway after witnesses say he grew belligerent and began threatening other passengers.

Neely's arrest record showed a long history of violence

The New York Post reported that Neely was arrested on multiple occasions, such as in November of 2021 when he was accused of punching a 67-year-old woman in the face.

What's more, the Daily News pointed to a 2015 incident in which Neely was arrested for attempting to drag away a 7-year-old girl.

That incident resulted in Neely pleading guilty to endangering the welfare of a child and receiving a sentence of four months behind bars.

Penny has been widely vilified by many on the left, including New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says Penny is a murderer

In a tweet put out earlier this month, Ocasio-Cortez denounced Penny as a murderer and complained that he was being "protected."

However, the former Marine has also garnered widespread support from those who regard his actions as being justified.

His law firm has created a campaign on the Christian crowdfunding website GiveSendGo, and it raised nearly a million dollars as of Saturday morning.

The fundraising campaign has been promoted by a number of prominent conservatives, including Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Gov. Ron DeSantis hails Penny as a Good Samaritan who should be supported

"We must defeat the Soros-Funded DAs, stop the Left's pro-criminal agenda, and take back the streets for law abiding citizens," DeSantis tweeted.

"We stand with Good Samaritans like Daniel Penny. Let’s show this Marine... America’s got his back," the governor went on to add.

" A free people [claim] their rights, as derived from the laws of nature."
