Undoubtedly, SpaceX, Tesla and X owner Elon Musk, one of the richest people in the world, played an instrumental role in President-elect Donald Trump's election victory last month.

He has had a significant influence on policy levels already, and Trump even tapped him to lead an unofficial government task force that will significantly reduce government spending.

Given his obvious influence in the political realm, Musk has been accused of pulling strings behind the scenes, and according to New Republic, he's working overtime to dispel rumors that somehow he is in charge of what's happening on the Trump side.

A growing number of people believe that enemies of Musk and Trump are purposely attempting to sow discord between the two with the hopes that Trump takes it too personally and cuts ties with Musk.

What's happening?

Musk responded to an X user who suggested that those opposing forces are doing their best to divide Musk and Trump by attempting to undermine Trump's "alpha male" status.

"For awareness — note the language here. It’s a very intentional strategy. The goal is to weaken Trump and Elon by fomenting tensions between them. By jabbing Trump about not being the alpha, the idea is to provoke him to sideline Elon and to fray the relationship," X user Lulu Cheng Meservey wrote.

Musk held nothing back as he agreed with her assessment, stressing that the people behind the attempt will "fail."

"That is exactly the goal. The political & legacy media puppets all got their new instructions yesterday and are now parroting the same message to drive a wedge between @realDonaldTrump and me. They will fail," Musk wrote.

The "President Musk" narrative was sparked after he helped successfully tank an earlier version of a massive spending bill in Congress.

Social media users agree

Trump and Musk's supporters, and anyone with common sense and reason, indicated that it's easy to see what Democratic and liberal media forces are trying to do.

"They're trying to instigate conflict between Musk and Trump. We must reject the liberal media and their supposed legitimacy," one X user wrote.

Another X user wrote, "It’s all propaganda trash and we all see it! Stay strong!"

It's doubtful that those opposing forces will be successful, and it's almost comical to watch them try.
