Melania continues to play a big role in Barron's life

People magazine just published a piece looking at the relationship between incoming First Lady Melania Trump and her son, Barron Trump.

In case you had any doubt, it would appear that the two are very close and that Melania continues to play a big role in Barron's life, even as he is going to college.

The 18-year-old Barron is currently attending New York University's Stern School of Business, a top school located in lower Manahattan.

This all comes as the Trump family, led by President-Elect Donald Trump, is getting ready to make a return to the White House.

"A good sounding board"

According to the sources with whom People spoke, Barron and Melania "strive for open communication with one another." This is particularly the case with regard to politics.

Per the outlet:

Melania worries about the hate in the country and how it falls on her son, who is innocent of any of this. She is and has been a good sounding board for him. They talk about life as it is and how they are in the spotlight. She tries to normalize his life. If that is even possible.

It has to be mentioned that People's sources are anonymous, and so such reporting always has to be taken with a large grain of salt.

Another source told the magazine:

Any child in the world spotlight like this would be lucky to have a parent so willing to give her time to help keep his life running smoothly. She wants to encourage him to make friends, be super careful of the haters which can be anywhere — especially on college campuses these days — and keep him mentally healthy by having open communication with him and the rest of her immediate family.

She is clearly a strong mother figure.

The big question:

With Barron attending university in New York, the big question has been whether Melania would be willing to leave Barron in New York while she goes to Washington, D.C., to be with her husband in the White House.

The president-elect revealed the answer to this question recently.

The Daily Mail reported him saying:

Oh yes [she will join me in the White House]. She was, she was very, she actually became very active towards the end, as you saw with interviews. And she does—she does them well. People really watch. She's very beloved by the people, Melania

Despite what Trump has said, some believe that Melania will split her time between the White House and New York.

Time will tell.
