Former first lady Melania Trump has not been an active participant in former President Donald Trump's re-election campaign, but that may be about to change.

Reports indicate that Trump is scheduled to headline and host a fundraiser event next month at Trump Tower for the Log Cabin Republicans organization, The Hill reported.

This will be the former first lady's second event this year with the organization that represents conservative and Republican members of the LGBT community, as she hosted a fundraiser for the organization at the Mar-a-Lago resort in South Florida in April.

Trump Tower fundraiser event revealed

Politico was the first to report on Monday that it had obtained a copy of an invitation to the Log Cabin Republicans fundraiser event scheduled to take place on July 8 at Trump Tower in New York City.

The Log Cabin Republicans are asking attendees to contribute up to $100,000, with the event's proceeds earmarked to support former President Trump's campaign and the organization's "Road to Victory" program that aims to increase voter turnout in support of Republican candidates.

The former first lady will be joined at the Trump Tower fundraiser event by several other co-hosts, including Trump administration alumni Ric Grenell, the former U.S. ambassador to Germany and acting director of national security.

Grenell made history, much to the chagrin of Democrats and the media, as the first-ever and highest-ranking openly gay individual appointed to a cabinet-level position in the U.S., according to the New York Post in 2020.

Melania previously honored by Log Cabin group

The Daily Mail reported that one of the former first lady's allies from the Trump administration, former State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus, told the outlet, "While this is Mrs. Trump's second event in 2024 for Log Cabin, she's participated in many events for Log Cabin over the years."

Indeed, USA Today noted that the Log Cabin Republicans honored Melania Trump with the organization's "Spirit of Lincoln" award during its annual gala event in 2021 that was held at the Mar-a-Lago resort.

Ortagus observed, "The event in NYC is in her home. So not only is she helping Log Cabin, she is opening her home to them."

"As a longtime supporter of Log Cabin Republicans, it is encouraging to see the former President and former First Lady setting the tone in our party to support an organization that is vital to our grassroots efforts, to winning the youth vote, and to winning the general election in November," she continued.

"Melania Trump is a kind and graceful woman, and any Republican grassroots organization would welcome her appearance," Ortagus added. "It speaks to her commitment to LGBT youth that she has been so dedicated to supporting Log Cabin Republicans over the years. She sets an important example for all future Republican First Ladies (and maybe one day a first man!)."

Little involvement in re-election campaign thus far

Politico noted that Melania Trump has largely kept a low profile throughout her husband's bid for another term in the White House, publicly joining him only for the launch of his campaign, to cast votes in Florida's primary election, and for a few major fundraiser events as well as a meeting at Mar-a-Lago with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

The former president has often suggested that his wife would "soon" get more involved in the re-election campaign, but The Hill recalled that when she was asked by reporters on Florida's primary day about what and when that involvement might entail, Melania only replied cryptically with a smile at the time, "Stay tuned."
