Melania Trump revealed Jill Biden reached out after assassination attempt but questioned the sincerity of her expressed concern
For the past eight years, the media and Democrats have gone out of their way to demonize and malign President-elect Donald Trump with the worst imaginable smears, only to then suddenly feign concern about his well-being after he was nearly killed in an assassination attempt at a Pennsylvania campaign rally in July.
Former and future first lady Melania Trump revealed recently that first lady Jill Biden called her after the assassination attempt but questioned the sincerity of her expressed concerns given Biden's own harsh rhetoric against the former Republican president, HuffPost reported.
That may have been a factor in why Melania skipped the traditional first ladies' meeting for tea at the White House on the sideline of the incoming and outgoing presidents' meeting to discuss the transition period on Wednesday.
Melania questions whether Jill's concern was "genuine"
In late October, less than a week before the election, once and future first lady Melania Trump was interviewed by French media outlet Paris Match and revealed that, in the aftermath of the July assassination attempt against her husband, first lady Jill Biden reached out to share her concerns about the near-fatal incident for the former president.
"I do question, however, whether Jill’s concern was genuine, as a few days prior she referred to my husband as 'evil' and a 'liar,'" Melania said, per MEAWW.
She continued, "It was obvious that the onslaught of rhetoric from Democrat leaders and the mainstream media was so deeply embedded in our nation’s consciousness it prompted an attempt to assassinate Donald."
Democrats created a "toxic political environment" against Trump
Melania Trump noted the relief she felt when she first learned that her husband was "safe" following the shooting at the rally but observed how the political left's incessant dehumanizing attacks against him had created the "toxic" environment that resulted in the attempt on his life.
"They want Donald out. They won’t stop. Has the concept of 'respect' become antiquated? The Democrat political engine peddles harsh words, vile names, and labels our nation’s 45th president 'a threat to democracy,'" she asserted.
"People today are so desensitized they actually joke about killing a former US president," the former first lady added. "It is undeniable that this type of speech created a toxic political environment."
Melania rejected Jill's invitation for White House tea
On Wednesday, President-elect Trump met with President Joe Biden at the White House for what was by all accounts a positive meeting between the two rivals to discuss the upcoming administrative transition in January.
Traditionally, the outgoing first lady will host their incoming successor for tea and conversation while their husbands meet, but Melania declined Jill's invitation and instead released a statement from her office that said, "Mrs. Trump will not be attending today’s meeting at the White House. Her husband’s return to the Oval Office to commence the transition process is encouraging, and she wishes him great success."
"In this instance, several unnamed sources in the media continue to provide false, misleading, and inaccurate information," the statement added. "Be discerning with your source of news."
Why did Melania skip the meeting with Jill?
It is unclear why, exactly, Melania snubbed Jill's invitation for tea, as the reported reasons range from a scheduling conflict, per HuffPost, to lingering hard feelings over the 2022 FBI raid of Mar-a-Lago that resulted in federal agents ransacking the Trump family's private residence and personal belongings in search of alleged classified documents, per the New York Post.
MSNBC and other outlets reported that, in light of Melania's absence from that traditional meeting, Jill delivered a handwritten note for the former and future president to pass along to her former and future counterpart.
