Melania Trump says she is ready to once again serve as first lady
During her husband's first term in office, incoming First Lady Melania Trump was initially slow to take up residence in the White House.
Yet in a power move, Mrs. Trump confirmed this week that she is ready for life in the nation's capital.
"This time I have everything"
According to The New York Times, the soon-to-be first lady made that fact clear during an interview with Fox News on Monday.
"When I need to be in New York, I will be in New York. When I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach. But my first priority is, you know, to be a mom, to be a first lady, to be a wife," she explained.
"This time I have everything," Mrs. Trump stressed. "I have the plans. I could move in. I already packed. I already selected the, you know, furniture that needs to go in."
"I just feel that people didn’t accept me, maybe," she suggested. "They didn’t understand me the way maybe they do now. And I didn’t have much support."
Plans to save money in first lady's office
Mrs. Trump went on to say that while she is not "just a wife of the president" but is instead "standing on my own two feet, independent."
"I have my own thoughts. I have my own yes and no. I don’t always agree [with] what my husband is saying or doing. And that's OK," Mrs. Trump declared.
One topic on which Mrs. Trump and her husband appear to be on the same page is the need to shrink the size of government, a fact which she discussed.

Mrs. Trump dodges question about whether she has spoken with Jill Biden
"I want to make sure that every position, they are talented, they have merit, they know what they're doing," she went on to stress.
Interestingly, Mrs. Trump was less forthcoming when asked whether she has interacted with President Joe Biden or First Lady Jill Biden ahead of next week's inauguration ceremony.
"They’re still living there, and they will be out on January 20," she remarked. Mrs. Trump observed that the current first couple only has five hours to move out "so everything needs to be planned to the minute."
