U.S. Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) made some new revelations about Jan. 6, 2021. 

He did so in a recent interview with The Atlantic.

It ought to be remembered that Lee was one of those members of Congress who sought to help former President Donald Trump to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Text messages of his were even leaked, in 2022, showing, according to CNN, conversations that he had with then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and with U.S. Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX).

Lee explains

Axios reports:

Text messages obtained by CNN in 2022 showed Lee pushed Trump's staff to enlist two separate Republican attorneys who now are tied to criminal cases that alleged efforts to subvert the election . . . The messages show Lee also sought to urge state legislators to appoint "alternate electors" to favor Trump. After that failed, Lee begged Trump's then-chief of staff Mark Meadows for "guidance on what arguments to raise," echoing an earlier plea: "I just need to know what I should be saying."

Lee has received a lot of criticism for this, and, now, it appears that he would have done some things differently had he known how things would have turned out.

The Atlantic asked Lee whether he had any regrets about what happened - sort of.

"Well, you know, had I known that my texts would be leaked to the public selectively, perhaps I would've said less in text messages," Lee said.

Lee's response forced some editorializing from The Atlantic, which claimed that "The senator doesn't seem to regret actively participating in an attempted coup. He regrets being caught."

He "smirked"

For those less familiar with The Atlantic, it is a far-left media outlet, and it is clear that the purpose of its interview with Lee was to "get him." But, Lee was having none of it.

At one point, the outlet says that Lee "smirked" at the idea that then-Vice President Mike Pence was in any kind of danger on Jan. 6, 2021.

"Who actually tried to kill Mike Pence? Who actually tried to kill him?" Lee asked the interviewer.

The interview, of course, did not have an answer to this question - because there is no answer to it. Rather, the interviewer merely pointed out that there were some protestors who chanted "hang Mike Pence" near an area where Mike Pence was.

It would appear that Lee came out on top with this interview, despite the best efforts of the leftists outlet.
