Mike Pence's former chief of staff denies report that Trump praised Hitler
Former Trump White House Chief of staff Gen. John Kelly has launched yet another attack on his old boss, this time accusing the former president of admiring Adolph Hitler.
Yet according to Breitbart, a witness has come to former President Donald Trump's defense by publicly accusing Kelly of lying.
"Hitler did some good things, too"
The New York Times published an article on Tuesday that quoted the retired Marine Corps general as saying that Trump once told him "Hitler did some good things, too."
Kelly went on to allege that Trump "falls into the general definition of fascist" and "certainly prefers the dictator approach to government."
Kelly's remarks came the same week that The Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg published a piece that claimed that Trump once stated, "I need the kind of generals that Hitler had."
As Breitbart noted, those assertions brought a sharp rebuke from Nick Ayers, who served as chief-of-staff to former Vice President Mike Pence.
Ayers: Kelly's claim is "too egregious to ignore"
"I've avoided commenting on intra-staff leaks or rumors or even lies as it relates to my time at the White House but General Kelly’s comments regarding President Trump are too egregious to ignore," Ayers wrote in a social media post on Wednesday.

"I was with each of them more than most, and his commentary is patently false," the former chief of staff went on to declare.
Ayers wasn't the only one who spoke up on Trump's behalf this week, as the sister of a female soldier who was killed four years ago did so as well.
Family of slain soldier disputes Goldberg's story
In his Atlantic piece, Goldberg wrote that the former president referred to 20-year-old Army Pvt. Vanessa Guillén as "a f--king Mexican."
Fox News reported that Mayra Guillén responded with a social media post, writing, "Wow. I don't appreciate how you are exploiting my sister's death for politics- hurtful [and] disrespectful to the important changes she made for service members."
"President Donald Trump did nothing but show respect to my family [and] Vanessa. In fact, I voted for President Trump today," she added.
Meanwhile, a lawyer for the Guillén family slammed Goldberg in a post of her own, writing that "not only did he misrepresent our conversation but he outright LIED in HIS sensational story."
