Weston Cage, the son of actor Nicolas Cage, has been arrested.

This is according to a new report from Fox News, which has spoken to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) - the department that arrested Cage.

The 33-year-old Weston Cage is now facing felony charges for assault with a deadly weapon.

A warrant for his arrest was issued earlier this year, and Cage decided to turn himself in on the morning of Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

Here's what we know so far:

According to Fox, the incident that led to the arrest warrant being issued for Weston Cage took place back in April 2024.

"On April 28, Weston and his mother, Christina Fulton, got into an argument at Christina's Los Angeles home, People magazine reported. The argument allegedly became physical," the outlet reports.

It adds, "[L]aw enforcement officials said, 'Cage punched two victims multiple times.' The alleged incident led to injuries. The case was presented to the Los Angeles district attorney's office May 10, and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon were filed against Weston.

Cage, as mentioned, surrendered to authorities on Wednesday at around 8 a.m. He ended up being released by 10 a.m. after posting a $150,000 bond.

It is unclear, at the time of this writing, when Cage's court appearance is.

"A mental health crisis"

USA Today has spoken with Fulton, who claims that her son has mental health problems.

"On April 28th, 2024, around 5:30 pm I received urgent messages from friends of my son, Weston Cage regarding his deteriorating mental state, urging me to come help. When I arrived to offer support and console him, he was already in the midst of a manic rage," she said.

She continued:

Within minutes, I was brutally assaulted and sustained serious injuries. Despite my desperate pleas to the responding Police officers to detain him for a mental health evaluation, the Police officers refused my request and neglected my urgent need for my medical attention. As a mother, I am deeply saddened and concerned about Weston’s on-going mental health crisis. It is imperative that he receives the help he desperately needs.

There have been a photograph of Fulton's alleged injuries posted on the internet. It can be found here.

Weston Cage, at the time of this writing, has not released a public statement on the situation - neither has his father Nicolas Cage. Fox reports, "Weston has been arrested before and has been open about his substance abuse problems."
