Obama's estranged brother Malik still riding with Trump in 2024

Barack Obama's family has received a painful blow, as a feud continues to simmer between the former president and his estranged brother.

Malik Obama has been a dedicated supporter of Donald Trump since his historic first campaign for president in 2016. In a post on X, Malik made clear that he is still riding the Trump train in 2024.

"I am Malik Obama. I'm a registered Republican and I'm voting for President Donald Trump," Malik wrote on X.

Lost brother

While he lives in Kenya, Malik has American citizenship and was registered to vote in Maryland as of 2016. Trump even invited him to one of his debates with Hillary Clinton.

Like many Trump voters, Malik likes that Trump "speaks from the heart," he told the New York Post in 2016.

"Make America Great Again is a great slogan,” he added. “I would like to meet him [Trump].”

Malik was the best man at his brother's wedding to Michelle Obama in 1992, but the half-brothers have lost touch. They share a father, the late Kenyan economist Barack Hussein Obama Sr.

Since 2016, Malik has become known for his fervent support of Trump and blunt criticism of his “fake” half-brother, who has kept his Kenyan relatives at a distance since his rise to political stardom. Malik has even stoked speculation about Barack’s sexuality and theories about his birth certificate.

"I stuck with Barack Obama all through his presidency, until I realized he was all about himself. That's when I ditched him for President Trump," he wrote in 2022.

Critic of the left

In 2021, Barack Obama publicly mourned the death of his Kenyan “granny,” Sarah Onyango Obama, who helped raise Barack Obama Sr.

Barack re-emerged last month to boost Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, the city where Obama launched his political career.

While President Obama is a modern icon of the left, Malik has expressed more traditional viewpoints, including opposition to gay rights and abortion.

“Kamala Harris talking reproductive freedom (ABORTION) because she has no biological children. Makes me wonder,” Malik wrote in a recent post.

“DEMOCRATS: ADVOCATES OF ABORTION, GAY MARRIAGE, SEX CHANGE, ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, VOTER FRAUD,” he wrote in a separate post.

Barack Obama has not responded to his half-brother’s criticism, as the former president continues to bask in praise from his cult of personality.
