Poll: majority believes Biden acted illegally or unethically in his son's business dealings

A new poll has found that the majority of Americans believe that President Joe Biden either acted illegally or unethically with regard to the international business dealings of his son, Hunter Biden.

The poll comes from the Associated Press and NORC. The pollster surveyed 1,163 adults nationwide during a period from Oct. 5 to Oct. 9, 2023. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.9 percentage points.

Did Biden do wrong?

One of the questions that the pollster asked participants is this:

When it comes to the overseas business dealings of Joe Biden's son, Hunter, do you think Joe Biden has done something illegal, or he has done something unethical but not illegal, or do you think he has not done anything wrong?

Only 30% of participants said that Biden "has not done anything wrong."

Sixty-eight percent, however, said that Biden "has done something wrong.} 35% said that Biden "has done something illegal," while 33% said that Biden "has doen something unethical."

When the results are broken down by party affiliation, 58% of Democrat participants sas that Biden "has not done anything wrong," compared with only 3% of Republicans.

On the other hand, 65% of Republican participants but only 8% of Democrats say that Biden "has done something illegal," while 31% of Republicans and 32% of Democrats say that Biden "has done something unethical."

The impeachment inquiry

The pollster also asked participants whether they approve or disapprove of an inmpeachment inquiry into President Biden. The results were similar.

A plurality - 39% - said that they "strongly" or "somewhat" disapprove of the inquiry, while 33% said that they "strongly" or "somewhat" approve of it, and 26% chose neither.

Democratic participants "strongly" or "somewhat" disapprove of the inquiry by 73%, whereas only 11% of Republicans say that the same. 67% of Republicans, however, "strongly" or "somewhat" approve of it, while only 7% of Democrats say that same. 21% of Republicans and 19% of Democrats say that they neither approve or disapprove of the inquiry.

The Associated Press, however, reports this, perhaps, important fact:

Fifty-four percent of the public have read or heard little or nothing about the impeachment inquiry. Of those who have read or heard at least something about the impeachment inquiry, 49% disapprove compared with 31% of those who have not paid much attention to the inquiry.

This could suggest that the mainstream media is doing a successful job in running interference for Biden.

What of the poll?

Poll results always have to be taken with a large grain of salt. There are simply too many ways that the results can be skewed. This is particularly true with regard to this poll, considering the way in which the mainstream media has suppressed reporting about the Biden family business.

House Republicans continue to investigate the Biden family business. They believe that Hunter Biden, with his father's involvement, was selling access to his vice president father.
