Pro-Harris celebrities suffer collective meltdown following Trump's re-election

Vice President Kamala Harris, the failed 2024 Democratic nominee, enjoyed the endorsements and support of a vast legion of popular celebrities from Hollywood and the music industry, but that was not enough to help her defeat her Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump, who is now once again the president-elect.

That political reality is too much to bear for many of those pro-Harris celebrities, several of whom have engaged in a public meltdown since Tuesday's election results, according to The Tribune.

The meltdowns ranged from utter despair to furious anger and included conspiratorial fear-mongering over what Trump might do over the next four years as well as vicious rhetorical attacks against the people who voted Trump into office for a second term.

Lashing out at half the country

One of the wildest public celebrity meltdowns came from pro-Harris rapper Cardi B, according to the Daily Mail, who decided to process her grief over the electoral loss with a live TikTok event with 37,000 viewers and launched into an explicit tirade when one of those viewers commented that she should attend President-elect Trump's inauguration.

"I swear to God I'm gonna f--k you up, get away from me! I'm sick of you! Burn your f--king hats motherf--ker. I'm really sad. I swear to God I'm really sad," she screamed at one point.

At other points in her online rant, the rap star spoke of her incredible "love" for and support of VP Harris, and said, "I'm proud of her and I hope she's proud of herself no matter what happens tonight. This is one of the most unforgettable elections and I love her. I don't say I love a lot of people, y'all know that. Because I hate everybody."

Overreaction would be an understatement

Cardi B was by no means alone in exploding with rage against the victorious Republican nominee and his supporters, as the Daily Mail shared the outraged and grief-stricken reactions of several other pro-Harris celebrities to the election results that didn't turn out the way that they'd hoped.

One example is British singer Paloma Faith, who early in the evening on Election Night suggested that "Today feels like the whole world is waiting for an STD test result." Later, after it became clear that Trump had won, she said, "Sadly the rest results came back positive."

The pop star followed that up with another post that declared, "Oh great he's back. Goodbye women's rights, goodbye liberalism, goodbye freedom of speech. Hello racism, hello capitalism, hello climate change, hello war, hello end of days."

More celebrities losing their minds over Trump's win

The Daily Beast also reported on the widespread "celeb meltdown" over former President Trump's re-election, including outspoken Trump-hating actor John Cusack, who wrote in a social media post, "The fact that the country would choose to destroy itself by voting in a convicted felon rapist and Nazi is a sign of deep nihilism. To put it mildly."

He was joined by actress Christina Applegate, who lamented, "Why? Give me your reasons why????? My child is sobbing because her rights as a woman may be taken away. Why? And if you disagree, please unfollow me."

Actress Dagmara Dominczyk lashed out against Trump's supporters and posted, "Trump won because the majority of Americans are ignorant enough to choose a corrupt, unhinged felon born with a silver spoon in his nasty mouth over a woman of color. That’s it. Nothing else mattered to them. It’s disgusting, shameful, and clear as day."

Actor Wendell Pierce wrote a mini dissertation on his dim view of American politics and wrote at length, "For those who wondered how American society allowed the sins of our past, realize that tonight Trump won the majority in spite of his lack of character and integrity. He demonstrated his racism, misogyny, xenophobia and tried to overthrow the government with an insurrection with any accountability or consequence. He is celebrated for his strategy of packing the court that will ultimately give him immunity and throw out his convictions. His indictments will disappear. This says everything about our society. We absolved this behavior by electing him. A celebration of criminality."

At least one pro-Harris Hollywood denizen turned his anger inward, however, as director Adam McKay said of the media, Biden administration, and Harris campaign, "Who would have guessed lying about Biden’s cognitive health for two years, refusing to do an open convention for a new nominee, never mentioning public healthcare & embracing fracking, the Cheneys & a yr long slaughter of children in Gaza wouldn’t be a winning strategy?"
