Amid reports of broken off engagement, Donald Trump Jr. says he'll 'never stop caring for' Kimberly Guilfoyle
It was recently revealed by the media that Donald Trump Jr. had broken off his years-long engagement to Kimberly Guilfoyle and is now courting a new girlfriend, Bettina Anderson.
In response to the media reports, Don Jr. insisted in a statement that he will "never stop caring for" and will retain a "special bond" with his former significant other, according to OK! magazine.
The eldest son of the former and future president did not specifically confirm that he and Guilfoyle had parted ways after first linking up in 2018 and getting engaged in 2020, but the end of their relationship had become undeniable thanks to media reports over the past few days.
Don Jr. addresses media reports about his split with Guilfoyle
In an exclusive statement to the New York Post's Page Six, Don Jr. said, "Kimberly and I will never stop caring for each other and will always keep a special bond," and in reference to her nomination as the next ambassador to Greece, noted, "I could not be more proud of her and the important role she’ll continue to play in my father‘s administration."
"Anyone taking baseless and petty fake news cheap shots at her in the tabloids are just embarrassing themselves," he continued in her defense from the negative media reports. "She’s been an undefeated prosecutor, national TV news star, a leader of the MAGA movement, and close advisor to the president. The people of Greece are getting an absolute star and now the whole world will see it more than ever."
"Since the very beginning, no one on Team Trump has worked harder than Kimberly to help elect and reelect my father -- and no one deserves this ambassadorship more than she does," Don Jr. added.
Breakup was not "contentious" and the pair remain "friendly"
The media began to report this past week on Don Jr.'s apparent split from Guilfoyle after he was spotted in public on multiple occasions with his new girlfriend Anderson, including on dinner dates at a popular Palm Beach, Florida restaurant and at his father's private Mar-a-Lago resort.
Further reporting suggests that the breakup occurred at some point over the summer but was kept quiet so as not to be a distraction for the re-election campaign of President-elect Donald Trump, which Don Jr. obviously supported and for which Guilfoyle served as a senior advisor and top surrogate.
In fact, People magazine cited an unnamed source familiar with the development who said it was "not a contentious split" but rather was "amicable" and "not one that is going to blow up, at least at this point."
"It's a friendly split between Kimberly and Don Jr.," the source continued and noted that "they've had a very long engagement [and] it was kind of in a holding pattern."
"The Trump family is still enamored with her," the source added of Guilfoyle. "She's very intelligent, very smart, very loyal. Even before she and Don were together, she was close with the family. She knew Donald before she knew Don Jr., and that connection is strong. So nothing has changed."
Source confirms "amicable" split
That seems to confirm what OK! magazine similarly heard from an anonymous source who said earlier this week that "Don and Kimberly broke up before the election and started to divide assets around the end of September," but "never discussed" the split publicly because they didn't want to "detract" from more "important issues" like the election.
That source also noted that the breakup was "amicable" and that the former couple "just had different goals" for themselves and the relationship.
As for Don Jr.'s new relationship with Anderson, he is said to be "smitten" with the Palm Beach socialite who is "very smart" and was first spotted cozying up together in August. The source added, "It’s a new relationship. He likes her a lot and has a lot of respect for her."
