Republican representative files for divorce
U.S. Rep. Mark Green (R-TN) has filed for divorce from his wife, and now his wife is making a bombshell allegation against him.
According to the Washington Examiner, Camilla "Camie" Green is claiming that her husband had an extra-marital affair.
Green and his wife have been married for 35 years.
It was in August that Mark Green filed for divorce in the Montgomery County Circuit Court. And, now, Camilla Green has gone public with allegations of an affair.
Here are the details
Camilla Green made the accusation in a letter that she sent to the wives of other male members of Congress. The letter has since been published by the Nashville Banner.
"I want to make others aware of how readily available ‘predators’ are for our husbands. If my story can prevent this tragedy from happening to someone else, I will tell it," she wrote.
Camilla Green went on to say that she has tried to work things out with her husband but that her husband insists on getting a divorce.
She wrote:
He is living life greatly deceived. I have offered reconciliation, and he wants nothing of it and has insisted on a divorce. Satan has rewritten our marriage in his mind
Green did not intend for the letter to be made public. She only wanted to address the wives of members of Congress in the hope of preventing this situation from happening to one of them. She continues to ask for privacy.
It's confirmed
It now appears that it is true that Mark Green is having an affair.
What is false, however, is whom Camilla Green believes that mistress to be. It appears that she thought that her husband was having an affair with a reporter. But, the real mistress claims that this is simply not true.
Politico spoke with the mistress, who said:
It is no secret that Mark is going through something personal, and I want to respect his privacy, but in the interest of making sure there is no collateral damage, I want to make sure people know that any rumors or claims of a relationship with a reporter are abjectly false
Mark Green, for his part, has also released a statement on the matter.
He said:
This is a difficult time for my family and me, and we are currently going through divorce proceedings. As this is a deeply private matter, I ask for privacy. I will continue to serve this district with all I’ve got, as I have the last five and a half years.
