U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) is calling upon both President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to resign from office following the Chinese spy balloon incident.

Wilson made the call in a five-message thread that he wrote Saturday on Twitter.

"Biden and Harris are failures"

Wilson begins:

The catastrophic Chinese Spy Balloon spectacle clearly threatened American families from Alaska to my home community in South Carolina and confirms President Biden and Vice President Harris should resign.

Wilson in the remaining four messages explains why it is that he believes Biden and Harris ought to resign.

Wilson's overall argument appears to be that Biden and Harris are simply not fit to lead the country and that the Chinese spy balloon situation is only the latest example of this fact.

"It is irrelevant for American families which party is in power because the first criteria of a leader should be their capability, regardless of party, and sadly Biden and Harris are failures," Wilson writes.

Wilson concludes:

When the domestic attack occurs, Biden and Harris will not be able to adequately respond. Credible leadership is imperative to protect American families.

Background

Wilson posted these messages to Twitter after the administration of President Joe Biden finally decided to shoot down the Chinese spy balloon on Saturday.

Apparently, the U.S. military had been tracking the balloon ever since it left mainland China. But, nevertheless, it allowed the balloon to not only reach America but across America - including military sites - before shooting the balloon down.

Many questions about the situation remain unanswered as the Biden administration has refused to reveal key details to the American public.

Now, the Biden administration is facing serious criticism for its handling of the Chinese spy balloon situation. And, Wilson and other Republicans are leading the way.

"Biden . . . owes the American people answers"

Among those congressional Republicans to criticize the Biden administration's handling of the Chinese spy balloon is U.S. Rep. Russell Fry (R-SC), who said, "You know, you look at this, national security is one of the biggest things that any country can do. It is a core function of government."

U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS) echoed this, saying, "It is clear that standard protocol for defense of U.S. airspace was ignored." Wicker further argued that the Biden administration's handling of the Chinese spy balloon is a "disastrous projection of weakness."

U.S. Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R-NY) is arguing that "the Biden Administration owes the American people answers now."
