Russian actress killed on vacation in Thailand after massive wave swept her away
A tourist enjoying a vacation in Thailand is now dead following an unexpected but natural occurrence that was horrifyingly caught on video.
Russian actress Kamilla Belyatskaya, 24, was killed on Friday when she was swept out into the Gulf of Thailand after a massive wave knocked her off a large rock she was sitting on, according to the New York Post.
Belyatskaya had been vacationing with her fiance, Grigorii Anokhim, on Thailand's popular Koh Samui island before their wedding that was scheduled for this week after they returned to Russia.
Swept away by a large wave
According to the Post, cellphone and surveillance cameras caught the tragic final moments of Belyatskaya's life when she arrived at the island's Lad Koh viewpoint by herself and proceeded to practice yoga on a mat on a large rock that overlooked the crashing waves.
Unfortunately, one of those waves was larger than expected and cascaded over the rock where she was seated, knocking her into the turbulent waters and pulling her out away from the shore, where she was seen briefly struggling to keep her head above water before disappearing beneath the surface.
Rescue attempts were launched but almost immediately aborted because of the dangerous surf conditions, and it wasn't until the next day that Belyatskaya's body was recovered when it washed ashore on a nearby beach.

Warnings had been issued about the dangerous conditions
The Independent reported that according to local Thai media and law enforcement, Belyatskaya arrived at Lad Koh alone around 1 pm on Friday and took up a position to practice yoga by herself on a rocky outcropping below the popular viewpoint.
It was about 30 minutes later that local police received a call about a tourist being swept away by a powerful wave but a rescue team didn't arrive at the scene for another 15 minutes, long after the woman had disappeared in the swirling waters, and attempts to find her were swiftly halted because of the dangerous conditions.
Per the head of the Samui Rescue Center, warnings had been issued about the rough conditions, but it is unknown if Belyatskaya was aware of the warnings or if she mistakenly believed the large rock she was sitting on was safely out of the danger zone.
"During monsoon season, we constantly warn tourists, especially at high-risk areas like Chaweng and Lamai beaches, where red flags indicate no swimming," Chaiyaporn Subprasert told local media. "While the incident location isn’t a swimming area but rather a viewpoint for scenery, the victim may have been caught off guard by the unexpected wave surge.
Fiance "devastated" and "heartbroken" by unexpected loss
"On the day of the accident, my girlfriend said she was going to play tennis, but I did not know that she had stopped by to relax at the Lad Koh viewpoint," the grieving fiance, Anokhim, told a local media outlet, per the Post. "I only found out what had happened from social media. I was devastated and immediately went to the area to help look for her."
"I was still praying for a miracle, that my fiancée would be found alive," he added. "I’m devastated, I’m heartbroken. We were going to get married in a few days."
According to The Phuket Express, Belyatskaya's body was discovered by a hotel worker on a nearby beach around 11 pm Saturday, turned over to the police, and transported to a hospital for an autopsy. Her identity was confirmed by Anokhim, and arrangements are being made to repatriate her remains back to her family in Russia.
