Breitbart recently recalled how in 2009, Wisconsin Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin said that members of Congress should disclose the assets of those they are romantically involved with.

Yet Baldwin is facing now facing charges of hypocrisy for refusing to disclose assets held by her lesbian partner.

Past comments come up in CNN interview

According to Breitbart, Baldwin is in a domestic partnership with Maria Brisbane, who is a chartered financial analyst at Morgan Stanley's Brisbane Group.

It's website states that "[t]he Brisbane Group is focused on helping Ultra High Net Worth individuals, families, and not for profit organizations create customized investment strategies with a focus on custom tailored equity portfolios."

Breitbart noted that Baldwin was asked during a CNN interview last week how she can "reconcile" her 2009 comments with the fact that Brisbane's assets remain undisclosed.

"Yeah, so, I don't particularly want to talk about my past life," Baldwin answered. "But, we have a domestic — we had a domestic law here in Wisconsin, and my ex and I, were legally domestic partners. That's not the case in my current situation."

Republican Eric Hovde points to double standard

"If I was dating a doctor, should they disclose their patients?" the lawmaker declared. "I mean come on, stay out of my personal life. I disclose everything that I’m legally required to disclose.

For his part, Republican challenger Eric Hovde include a clip of the CNN interview in a social media post on Friday, writing, "In 2009 Tammy Baldwin stated there was 'public interest' in the financial assets of a lawmaker’s partner and the information should be disclosed."

"Now she says, 'stay out of my personal life,'" the Republican candidate asserted before stressing, "She's not for Wisconsin anymore. It's time for change."

Andrew Mamo serves as a spokesperson for Baldwin's campaign, and he said in a statement to Politico that the senator complies with "all ethics guidelines when it comes to her financial disclosure reports."

Baldwin says Hovde wants to remind voters that she is gay

"Eric Hovde’s repeated attempts to attack the woman Tammy Baldwin is dating are sad and desperate," went on to declare.

"No matter how low Eric Hovde goes, voters will not forget about the massive conflict of interest presented by his continued ownership of his $3 billion California bank that receives deposits from unnamed foreign banks and governments," the spokes person added.

What's more, CNN reported on Sunday that Baldwin has claimed that Hovde's comments regarding Brisbane are merely an attempt to remind voters that she is gay.
