Sources say Barron Trump will continue living at Trump Tower while he attends NYU
Barron Trump began attending New York University's Stern School of Business earlier this year and has apparently connected with some of his fellow students through their shared interest in video games.
Yet despite enjoying his time at the school, a new report suggests that his mother has banned him from living on campus.
"Melania feels it's better to be around him as much as possible"
Published this past Friday by People magazine, it cited several sources who claim that soon to be First Lady Melania Trump believes her son is better off living at Trump Tower.
"She will do everything she can to make sure Barron does well in school and is socially and mentally adjusted to his life as a college student," one source was quoted as saying of Mrs. Trump.
"Living in a dorm in a college town isn't in the stars for him at this point," the source continued. "Barron already has his own political ideas. It all needs to be monitored in light of the situation."
“Whether or not others think he is capable of being on his own, Melania feels it's better to be around him as much as possible. I see that continuing," the source added.
Mrs. Trump will remain in New York while acting as first lady
Meanwhile, another source indicated that Mrs. Trump is confident that she can function as first lady while living with her son in New York.
"Barron is in school all day, so she has plenty of time for official jobs as well as being there for her son when he needs her," the source explained.
For her part, Mrs. Trump said during a September interview with Fox News that Barron actually prefers his current arrangement.
"It was his decision to come here that he wants to be in New York and study in New York and live in his home, and I respect that," the incoming first lady declared.
"I hope he will have a great experience because his life is very different than any other 18, 19-year-old child," she stressed.
Barron helped decide which podcasters his father would speak to
Although Barron may be limiting his time on campus, one his father's political advisers says that he played an important role in this year's campaign.
"Barron has been very involved in recommending a number of the podcasts that we should do," the New York Post quoted Miller as telling Politico's "Playbook Deep Dive" in September.
"I got to tell you, hats off to the young man. Every single recommendation he’s had has turned out to be absolute ratings gold that’s broke the internet. He’s done a great job," Miller added.
