The Supreme Court turned down a longshot effort on Monday to hear a case attempting to keep former President Donald Trump off of the 2024 ballot.

John Anthony Castro filed lawsuits in multiple states to keep the former president from running based on the 14th Amendment.

The attempt

“Castro will further suffer irreparable competitive injuries if Trump, who is constitutionally ineligible to hold office, is able to attempt to secure votes in primary elections and raise funds,” he argued in his petition, noting his own run for president.

“Trump’s constitutionally unauthorized undertaking will put Castro at both a voter and donor disadvantage," it added.

Not stopping

"Castro has filed lawsuits to keep Trump off the ballot in various states, and said he will not be deterred despite the high court’s decision," the New York Post reported.

“The Supreme Court can deny to hear the case but appellate courts cannot. I’m still pursuing decisions in the liberal appellate courts and there’s a full blown trial scheduled for October 20 in New Hampshire and a bench trial in Arizona on October 31,” he tweeted.

The Colorado effort

In addition to the Supreme Court challenge, Trump is being attacked in a push to remove him from the ballot in Colorado.

"A state judge in Colorado who is overseeing a novel attempt to prevent former President Donald Trump from appearing on the 2024 ballot, citing the 'insurrection' clause of the 14th Amendment, has already issued a major ruling in the case" Conservative Brief reported last week.

"According to the site Man And Home, Judge Sarah B. Wallace of the Second Judicial District, 'took a proactive step to maintain the safety of all involved parties, including herself and her staff,' including the issuance of 'a protective order prohibiting threats and intimidation during the ongoing litigation,'" it added.

A similar effort in New Hampshire has already been turned down, with similar results expected in Colorado.

Despite multiple attempts, it appears Trump will be on the ballot if he wins the primaries, setting up a unique rematch against President Joe Biden next year.
