The second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump ended with the arrest of Ryan Wesley Routh, but according to his family, taking shots at someone isn't in his wheelhouse.

Routh's son, Oran Routh, spoke out after his dad's arrest as a suspect in a possible assassination attempt at Trump's Florida golf club on Sunday, saying his dad isn't violent, according to a report by The Daily Mail.

Oran said he did not even believe that his father owned a gun.

From the Son

"This was the first I heard about it," the 35-year-old exclusively told reporters after the arrest. "Was my father shot or injured?"

He went on to say he believes his father hates Trump as "every reasonable person does… I don't like Trump either."

On the other hand, he stated that his father is not a violent person and that he could not believe that his father would target the president.

"He's my dad and all he's had is couple traffic tickets, as far as I know," the son said. "That's crazy. I know my dad and love my dad, but that's nothing like him."

Attack Details

On Sunday, several shots were discharged in the vicinity of the former president while he was playing golf at his club in West Palm Beach. He was quickly transported to safety.

The son stated that his father, who possessed no military experience, had traveled to Ukraine after Russia's 2022 invasion in order to assist and volunteer with the displaced.

Oran relocated to Hawaii a few years ago and was living with his long-term partner. He stated that he was unaware that his father was in Florida.

"He said he was at the beach, but I thought that meant the outer banks in Hawaii," he said. "I didn't ask him for more information because we've had a falling out. We've grown apart."

Family Split

Despite the fact that he refused to elaborate on the circumstances surrounding their "falling out," he continued to speak highly of his father.

"He's not a violent person," he said. "He's a hard worker and a great dad. He's a great dude, a nice guy and has worked his whole f**king life."

When asked whether his father possessed a gun, he responded, "Not that I am aware of." The son further stated, "I've never known him to own a gun or known him to do anything bats*** like this."

He stated that his father is a general contractor and has previously owned a roofing company.
