Tim Walz falsely told Gold Star families he was deployed to Afghanistan during the war
Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign has to be in regret mode for picking Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) as the VP running mate.
Walz has suffered a seemingly never-ending series of embarrassing scandals regarding his claims of his rank and service in the U.S. military. Many, including former military personnel with whom he served, have accused him of stolen valor.
The VP candidate's latest humiliating instance of stolen valor came after it was revealed that he never served in combat on the battlefield, even though he's quick to claim he did.
A newly unearthed video from a 2004 hearing on PTSD revealed that Walz claimed at that time that he had been deployed and served in war.
What happened?
Walz stirred up headlines last week after the Harris campaign released a video clip of Walz talking about gun control. In the video, Walz can be heard claiming that he carried assault-style weapons "into war," when in fact, he was never in war.
The fallout from that situation is still causing Walz and the Harris campaign major issues, but new video will undoubtedly add to that pile of problems.
According to a report, and video uploaded to X, Walz claimed he was deployed to Afghanistan during a hearing regarding PTSD, in front of Gold Star families to boot.
"BREAKING: In newly obtained tape, then-Rep. Tim Walz tells a gold-star family during hearing on PTSD that he was deployed to Afghanistan in 2004 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and says he and his troops suffering from mental health issues were “shown the horse whisperer and told to go be nice" the caption of the video read.

Needless to say, Walz was immediately torched across social media for making such a serious claim in front of families who lost loved ones who actually served in war.
Social media fires back
Reaction to the new video was fierce, as it clearly angered many that Walz would tell such disgraceful lie especially to that particular audience.
"This dude was milking that lie for all it was worth. He should have to apologize to that gold star family," Juanita Broadderick wrote on her X account.
Another X user wrote, "This guy is just an absolute scumbag."
Only time will tell what will be unearthed next. Some are already calling for Harris to replace Walz with a different candidate, though it's highly unlikely that will happen so late in the game.
