Trump authorizes use of troops to protect ICE facility in Portland
An ICE detention facility located in Portland has become the scene of frequent clashes between federal agents and violent rioters.
However, President Donald Trump left his supporters cheering this past weekend when he greenlit the use of military personnel to bring order.
Troops being sent to "war ravaged Portland"
According to Breitbart, Trump made the announcement via a Truth Social post on Saturday, saying that he is "authorizing Full Force, if necessary."
"At the request of Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, I am directing Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to provide all necessary Troops to protect War ravaged Portland, and any of our ICE Facilities under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists," the president declared.
Breitbart noted how the president's statement came just days after he signed an executive order designating Antifa as a domestic terror organization.
"Antifa is a militarist, anarchist enterprise that explicitly calls for the overthrow of the United States Government, law enforcement authorities, and our system of law," the order read.
Order calls for agencies "to investigate, disrupt, and dismantle" Antifa
It further alleged that Antifa "uses illegal means to organize and execute a campaign of violence and terrorism nationwide to accomplish these goals."
The order went on to instruct federal agencies "to investigate, disrupt, and dismantle any and all illegal operations — especially those involving terrorist actions — conducted by Antifa or any person claiming to act on behalf of Antifa."
Meanwhile, Breitbart pointed out how Vice President J.D. Vance referenced violence in Portland and elsewhere at the executive order's signing ceremony.
"I believe it was in Oregon where you had a federal building where there were men in black ski masks who were committing acts of violence, who were shutting down a government building," Vance told reporters.
Vice president: "They’re committing acts of political terrorism"
"These are paid people. This is organized," the vice president stressed. "They’re committing acts of political terrorism on American soil, and it’s time we had a government that looked out for the American people rather than the people who are committing violence against the American people."
Trump spoke up as well, asserting, "These are crazy people, and they’re trying to burn down buildings, including federal buildings."
"But we’re going to get out there, and we’re going to do a pretty big number on those people in Portland that are doing that. They’re professional agitators and anarchists. They’re actually anarchists," he declared.
