President Donald Trump just called for leftist billionaire George Soros to be put in jail. 

The Washington Examiner reports that Trump made the statement during a recent interview with NBC News.

As we will see, these are not the first remarks of their kind from Trump about Soros.

Lock him up!

During his NBC appearance, the president said that Soros "should be put in jail." Trump also called Soros a "bad guy." But, it does not appear that he elaborated much on these thoughts.

Newsmax reports that Trump made a similar statement during a recent appearance on the Fox News Channel.

Per the outlet:

President Donald Trump on Friday said his administration would investigate billionaire George Soros and members of his family for potential racketeering charges related to protests linked to unrest across the country. "We're going to look into Soros," Trump said on "Fox & Friends," "because I think it's a RICO case against him and other people."

The outlet notes that "RICO stands for the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act . . . The law is typically used to prosecute organized crime."

Newsmax goes on to quote Trump as saying, "because this is more than like protests. This is real agitation. This is riots on the street. And we're going to look into it."

Background

As mentioned earlier, Trump has publicly called for Soros to, at the very least, be investigated, on other occassions as well.

Just toward the end of August 2025, for example, the president said that Soros ought to be "charged with RICO."

In a social media post, Trump wrote:

George Soros, and his wonderful Radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of Violent Protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America. We’re not going to allow these lunatics to rip apart America any more, never giving it so much as a chance to “BREATHE,” and be FREE. Soros, and his group of psychopaths, have caused great damage to our Country! That includes his Crazy, West Coast friends. Be careful, we’re watching you! Thank you for your attention to this matter!

There is little doubt that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), under the leadership of Attorney General Pam Bondi, is looking into whether or not any charges could actually be brought against Soros.

We'll have to see what, if anything, the DOJ comes up with.
