Trump campaign creates faux Harris policy website to highlight absence of her own

Though she has secured her party's presidential nomination and raised a great deal of money since President Joe Biden withdrew from the 2024 race, Vice President Kamala Harris has yet to reveal many specifics about her policy direction for the country.

Capitalizing on the growing realization among journalists that Harris has thus far refused to articulate her positions on key issues, former President Donald Trump this week highlighted her neglect via a humorous mock policy website outlining what he assumes the VP's stances to be, as the New York Post reports.

Harris still mum on policy

Having declined to sit down for a substantive interview even with friendly news organizations and still refusing to take hard-hitting questions in a formal press conference format, Harris has, in Trump's estimation, launched her presidential bid in a glaringly unserious way.

Her reluctance to engage with the press -- as well with as the electorate on whom she is relying come November -- has drawn the attention of journalists on both sides of the aisle and as RealClearPolitics reported, this dearth of details from the Harris camp was recently discussed in detail during a Fox News segment hosted by John Robers and Sandra Smith.

Roberts lamented that “the media is just basically letting Kamala Harris say anything she wants and not really challenging her.”

That observation prompted Smith to note, “I'm still amazed that when you go to her campaign website of course the first thing you see is a request from for money for donations. That's fine but then you travel throughout her website, there's still no policy pitches or explanations or details being offered to voters as to how she's gonna fix -- fix the problems that she's laying out in her speeches.”

Roberts aptly replied, “It used to be if you wanted to get a good sense of what the policy of the particular candidate was you would go to their website and would be all laid out there on a policy page in great detail. That page doesn't even exist on Kamala Harris's website.”

Trump fills the gaps

In an effort to fill the information void, Trump's campaign on Wednesday launched a policy page jokingly produced on Harris' behalf, which detailed the former president's interpretation of where the VP falls in critical concerns of the American people.

“Kamala Harris has yet to tell voters what her policies are, so we thought we'd help them out,” began Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt.

She went on to assert, “Kamala Harris wants to open the borders, raise taxes, and free criminals.”

The site included a list of bullet points Trump believes are centerpieces of the Harris campaign, including “Fighting to Set Murderers Free,” “More Taxes to Ensure the Middle-Class Pays Their 'Fair Share,'” “Abolish Borders,” “Bring Back the Green New Deal,” “Eliminate Private Health Insurance,” and more.

Holding her feet to the fire

Trump's attempt to help clarify for American voters the truth behind the Harris platform will reportedly not stop with the tongue-in-cheek policy website, as the former president announced Thursday on Truth Social that he plans to offer the country a “LIVE PLAY BY PLAY” of the VP's formal nomination acceptance speech to the Democratic National Convention.

“We will expose all of her Radicalism, the horrible job she did at the Border, Crime, and Foreign Relations, and her Weaponization against her Political Opponent, using corrupt Prosecutors and Courts in New York, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta,” he added.

Though millions of viewers will surely tune in to the convention to learn whether or not Harris finally ready to reveal the details of her vision for America, it seems highly likely that a very sizable contingent will be following along on Truth Social for the sort of plain-spoken fact-check only Donald Trump could provide.
