Former President Donald Trump is celebrating the release from prison of Peter Navarro, his former adviser.

The former president did so on Saturday via his Truth Social account.

In doing so, the former president reminded Americans of the truth regarding the House subcommittee that investigated the events of Jan. 6, 2021.

This includes the fact that the members of the committee, before being disbanded, were caught deleting evidence that many believe was favorable to Trump.

Background

Navarro has been in prison for the past several months for refusing to comply with the partisan Jan. 6 committee's subpoena.

This is the same highly partisan committee that was supposed to be investigating the Capitol protest of Jan. 6, 2021, but, instead, spent all of its time trying to pin blame for the situation on Trump.

Navarro refused to comply with the committee's subpoena, which led to a contempt of Congress charge being brought against him by President Joe Biden's Department of Justice (DOJ). Navarro was found guilty and sentenced to prison.

Now, Navarro, according to the Associated Press, is scheduled to be released from prison on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. And, it appears that, just hours after his release, he will speak at the Republican National Convention - where Trump is expected to be named the Republican Party's presidential nominee.

The outlet reports:

Navarro is set to be released from a Miami prison on Wednesday, July 17, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ online database of current inmates. That would give him just enough time to board a plane and make it to Milwaukee before the convention wraps Thursday. He was found guilty in September of contempt of Congress charges for refusing to cooperate with a congressional investigation into the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Trump celebrates

Trump, on Saturday - before his attempted assassination - took the opportunity to celebrate Navarro's release by promoting Navarro's upcoming book. The former president also reminded his followers about some truths regarding Navarro's imprisonment.

"Peter Navarro has a new book coming out next week, “The New MAGA Deal” — Just as he will be released from prison over refusing to testify for the Jan 6 Hoax Committee, who deleted and destroyed all of their records, A CRIME, but nothing happened to them. Get your copy today!" Trump wrote.

Trump is telling the truth here about the deleted evidence.

Fox News, in January 2024, reported:

The former House Select Committee on Jan. 6 deleted more than 100 encrypted files from its probe just days before Republicans took over the majority in the House of Representatives, Fox News Digital has learned.
