Trump campaign files FEC complaint alleging 'foreign election interference' by leftist British Labour Party in support of Harris campaign
For the past eight years, Democrats and the media have howled about former President Donald Trump and Republicans being the alleged beneficiaries of foreign election interference, but are now largely silent as similar allegations have been lodged against Vice President Kamala Harris.
The Trump campaign is not being quiet, though, and has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission alleging illegal foreign interference by the leftist British Labour Party in support of the Harris campaign and Democrats, according to UPI.
The FEC complaint, which cites ample evidence of overt public efforts by British leftists to assist VP Harris's campaign, urges the commission to immediately investigate the alleged violations of federal election laws.
FEC complaint filed against the Harris campaign, British Labour Party
In a Tuesday news release titled "The British are coming," the Trump campaign made an unsubtle reference to the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812 when it declared, "When representatives of the British government previously sought to go door-to-door in America, it did not end well for them …"
The release accused the United Kingdom's Labour Party of offering -- and the Harris-Waz campaign of accepting -- "illegal foreign campaign contributions and interference in our elections."
The campaign further alleged that the "far-left" British party has "inspired Kamala’s dangerously liberal policies and rhetoric" and noted recent evidence of the party "recruited and sent" some of its members to the U.S. with the express purpose to "campaign for Kamala in critical battleground states, attempting to influence our election."
In a statement, Trump campaign co-manager Susie Wiles said, "In two weeks, Americans will once again reject the oppression of big government that we rejected in 1776. The flailing Harris-Walz campaign is seeking foreign influence to boost its radical message -- because they know they can’t win the American people."
"President Trump will return strength to the White House and put America, and our people, first," she added. "The Harris campaign’s acceptance and use of this illegal foreign assistance is just another feeble attempt in a long line of anti-American election interference."
Evidence shows the British Labour Party is assisting the Harris campaign
The Trump campaign's news release included a link to the six-page FEC complaint filed on Tuesday that similarly referenced the poor ending for the British following their previous attempts to interfere with the self-governance of Americans, and surmised, "It appears that the Labour Party and the Harris for President campaign have forgotten the message."
The filing urged the FEC to launch "an immediate investigation into blatant foreign interference in the 2024 Presidential Election in the form of apparent illegal foreign national contributions made by the Labour Party of the United Kingdom and accepted by Harris for President, the principal campaign committee of Vice President Kamala Harris."
As evidence for the accusation, the complaint cited media reports about Labour Party "strategists" and senior staffers providing the Harris campaign with advice and messaging, and highlighted since-deleted social media posts from Labour Party Head of Operations Sofia Patel recruiting current and former party members and staffers to travel to several key battleground states to assist Democrats and the Harris campaign in person.
Apparent violations of FEC regulations against foreign interference
The Trump campaign's complaint suggested these allegations violated FEC regulations that prohibit foreign nationals from offering -- and U.S. campaigns from accepting -- contributions of any value, nor are they permitted to "direct, dictate, control, or directly or indirectly participate in the decision-making process" of any U.S. candidate or campaign.
"Those searching for foreign interference in our elections need to look no further than Ms. Patel’s LinkedIn post. The interference is occurring in plain sight," the complaint stated. "Ms. Patel’s posts and press reporting surrounding the relationship between the Harris campaign and the Labour Party create a reasonable inference that the Labour Party has made, and the Harris campaign has accepted, illegal foreign national contributions."
The complaint concluded by again urging the FEC to "protect our democracy from illegal foreign influence" and to "investigate this matter immediately."
