Trump looks likely to take Pennsylvania
It is looking more and more likely that former President Donald Trump will win the important swing state of Pennsylvania in the 2024 presidential election.
In a surprise to many, this is actually being suggested by U.S. Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA), Fox News reports.
Fetterman, the reader will likely remember, is the man who won the U.S. Senate for the Democrats, beating Dr. Mehmet Oz in a race that garnered national attention. In addition to that, Trump lost the state of Pennsylvania in the 2020 election.
Accordingly, if Trump does go on to win Pennsylvania in a couple of weeks, this could be a huge turnaround for Republicans.
"It's astonishing"
Fetterman revealed what is happening on the ground in his home state of Pennsylvania during a recent interview with the New York Times.
There, Fetterman suggested that Trump is pulling in some major support - perhaps more support than Trump's rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, can handle.
Regarding the enthusiasm of Pennsylvania voters for Trump, Fetterman said, "There’s a difference between not understanding, but also acknowledging that it exists. And anybody who spends time driving around, and you can see the intensity. It’s astonishing."
Fetterman went on to reveal some personal experiences he had of Trump's support in Pennsylvania.
He said:
I was doing an event in Indiana County. Very, very red. And there was a superstore of Trump stuff, and it was a hundred feet long. [There were] dozens of T-shirts and hats and bumper stickers and all kinds of, I mean, it’s like, Where does this all come from? It’s the kind of thing that has taken on its own life. And it’s like something very special exists there. And that doesn’t mean that I admire it. It’s just — it’s real.
It's really happening
This is not the first time that Fetterman has revealed that there is big-time support in Pennsylvania for Trump. Previously, he suggested that the first assassination attempt on Trump's life - the one that took place in Butler, Pennsylvania - had a big impact on voters there.
Another big cause of Trump's Pennsylvania support, according to Fetterman, is Elon Musk's decision to endorse Trump, which Musk did soon after that Butler assassination attempt.
Fetterman said:
And now [Elon] Musk is joining him. I mean, to a lot of people, that’s Tony Stark. That’s the world’s richest guy. And he’s obviously, and undeniably, a brilliant guy, and he’s saying, Hey, that’s my guy for president. That’s going to really matter.
Fetterman argued that, while endorsements often do not mean that much, Musk's does.
We'll find out soon enough if Fetterman is right about Pennsylvania trending in Trump's favor.
